Babystyle Oyster from Birth

Hi, still having a dilemma choosing the right buggy, but think we're settled on the babystyle oyster. However, not sure whether we need the carrycot or whether the seat (which the manufacturer says is for use from 6+ months), laid flat, will be sufficient? We've had a couple of retailers say, the seat laid flat will be okay, however it doesn't appear to lay fully flat when we've tried. Has anyone used the oyster babystyle from birth for their baby without the carrycot and if so, how did you get on?

I have not used it but it is the pushchair we are looking at for pfb. I believe that the seat does not lie completely flat so we plan to get the carrycot. Will be handy for us as it will give baby somewhere to nap downstairs without having to get a Moses basket.

I would these days but probably would not have for my first baby! Point about napping downstairs is an excellent one and maybe it depends on the length of the outings you are likely to take. If you're gonna do a lot of full day stuff then I'd get a cot, ditto if you need a place for the baby to sleep downstairs then it's also probably worth it. Otherwise I would use the seat as is with a nice footmuff or similar.

You really need the carrycot for the Oyster.

I have an oyster & yes although it does lie nearly flat I wouldn't use it from birth. It has quite open exposed sides & isn't very snug & cosy for a little baby. We've used used from 5months up (bought on replacement for a quinny) & love it, have another baby due nov & will pick up a 2nd hand carrycot for it , oh as well as a shiny new double pram too!!!x

Thanks everyone,

Have got the Oyster in the end and really pleased with it.

Only thing is, the carrycot looks good, but just not very soft material - does anyone know where you can get fitted sheets for it / something to make it more cosy?

Thanks,
Dandileeno.

I loved my oyster while using the carrycot wich due to a hefty fidgity baby was only about 9 weeks, and then struggled as the seat was to upright for her so sold it about a week later, such a shame i really dont get the point of any pram that doesnt fully recline i mean whats the point [consed]
