Buggy/Stroller for one year old - suggestions please?

I'm about to go buggy hunting for my one year old.

I need something that is lightweight, but good for rambling about the countryside/beaches/off-road, BUT that doens't take up all the room in the boot of my hatchback.

I've been looking at the Baby Jogger Citi Elite and Mini, but not sure how big it is.

I do have a Mothercare Urban Detour which I love as it's great in the countryside and for long walks with loads of storage space and is also easy to manoeuvre, but it's very heavy and when it's in the boot, nothing else fits. It's also on it's last legs, so I need a replacement.

I wondered about an umbrella folding buggy as they seem to take up the least space, but none I've seen look very comfy for my LO who still takes long naps in his.

SO, oh wise buggy-folk, please can you help?

Ok, the Baby Joggers are fab. I wouldn't get the City Mini because the wheels are not for off road. The minimum to get would be the new GT version but to be honest for serious offloading I woud get the Elite or the Summit. The chassis ie folded seat parts are all very similar, it's the wheels that make the difference to the fold or open size. The wheels all pop off very easily and I usually take mine off to store etc. so it shouldn't fill your hatchback. The fold is flat so I slide it in sideways or on top. This list might help you because there's several Baby Jogger comparisons here including a BJCM and Elite one.

thank you!

that comparison site is good. I like both the elite and summit - tough choice!
