Can I justify the GT double??

Aargh I have been sucked into pram researching. I originally just wanted a lightweight twin for travelling and managed to convince myself I could justify a BJCM double.

Was fully intending on getting a secondhand one, but then got sucked in by the thought of a new shiny 2012 model, liking the idea of better basket access and the autolock.

But now I've been tempted by the GT- this is getting out of hand and I need a stiff talking to! Has anyone seen/driven the double versions of the CM and GT to compare? Is the GT significantly heavier and wider? Please put me off it.....

I think I am on the slippery slope to pram addiction

It's no wider, yes it's heavier, but it's definitely worth the extra :)
I ad the BJCMD and realised pretty quickly that I walk differently pushing a side by side than I do a single - mainly because I prefer to push a single one handed and with a double I somehow end up using to hands. But although I have a single BJCM and the handle height was fine, the change in posture meant the BJCMD handle height was too high and I ended up with back ache. Plus I had the 2011 and the basket was near impossible to get into. I could post a tin of beans through one at a time or a tiny bag, and believe me with even a coupe of bags of groceries to get home it quickly drove me demented...not just posting everything through outside the shop, but also fishing them out again when I got home. The new basket access is much much better. So for that reason alone get any 2012 version!!
But the GT also has the forever air wheels which should make it easier to push, the bigger seat and handbrake as well.
I had an Elite double for a while and although it was heavy, it was easier and better to push, and the GT really has the advantages of the Elite without the disadvantages. I certainly wouldn't put you off buying the GT double because I think the differences are worth it.

Thanks very much Tiggy, that's v helpful- I did have a dreadful suspicion you were going to say that :)

Just got to sneak it past DH now, who is asking utterly unreasonable questions like why exactly we need another pram....

Sell it on resale value and the life time warranty on the chassis and wheels [buwink]. I have just literally madly, stupidly (I know given my DD's age) bought a Donkey to enjoy the summer with, but the BJCMGT is a side by side I really fancy - that and the new narrower Nipper......and the Twone.....and an Oyster Max.....and a new colour Peach Blossom 2......lololololol. I need more children!

woooo my GT double arrived this morning and I LOVE IT! It's gorgeous, DS (20months) looks teeny in it, and I have no doubt it will last til he is 4+

It really, really makes me happy.

I'm compromising by not buying a carrycot for it (I think the normal BJCM soft carrycot would fit?) but I am getting a graco softcot from ebay which will turn one side into a parent facing lie flat pram, and should cost me less than £20!

Now I just want baby to hurry up so I can get out and play! lol

Ohhhhhhh Tiggy and Choco you are bad, I had just about convinced myself last night that I should stick at the city mini and that it was crazy talk to even be thinking of taking a GT travelling, or to buy a pram I haven't even seen for that matter!

Cheapest I can find is £440, has anyone found less on their travels?

I am weak, dammit
