Which is the lightest tandem or double buggy on the market?

Help! I have a P&T Explorer which is great. But I find it SO heavy to get in and out of the car I'm thinking of buying a lightweight double stroller as well for short trips/holidays. Reviews seem to say the Out n About Nipper 360 double is 10kg and the lightest available but when I've looked at the spec for it, it comes up as 12.9kg!? (Roughly the same as the P&T Explorer or have I got this wrong??)

Does anyone know which is the lightest double/tandem available on the market??

I'm thinking about the Joovy Caboose, or Cosatto You2 as they are light plus have reclining seat/s

Any recommendations/info/advise would be fab!

What about M&P Pulse twin? I haven't looked into it, but a friend has one and it seems very light. It has reclining seats too.

hi, I asked a similar thing the other day and got a few good suggestions, here's the thread

I'd guess the Combi We2 is the lightest. They're very cheap second hand but probably not the lightest to push.

Tiggywunkle · 01/04/2012 00:24

The Nipper V1 was a fair bit lighter than the Nipper V2 which probably explains the difference in eight. The problem with buying a "light" pushchair is that it doesn't mean they are easy to push. The Nipper V1 is good to push though and TBH I would get that rather than an umbrella fold.

ShortHamstrings · 22/04/2012 19:20

Hi, thanks everyone, that's very helpful info all round. It is the lifting in and out of the car which is the issue for me so light to carry rather than light to push is top of my wish-list (how good would both be?!). It looks like the Combi We2 is definitely the lightest as HypathiaTheProcrastinator says, but it looks a bit bulky when folded...so I am going for the Joovy Caboose Ultralight (not the one Mothercare stocks it turns out, there is a lighter version), it is not quite ass light as the Combi We2 but close (about 9.5kg) and folds up nice and small. I'll review it once it arrives, very excited! (Is that sad?!)

Is there a citi mini double version yet?

RandomMess · 22/04/2012 19:29

Oh found it on line, 2012 version is 11.2kg

Tiggywunkle · 22/04/2012 21:44

I am intrigued by the lighter Joovy Caboose Ultralight. Is it the one with the squarer hood (thats 5lbs lighter)? Its good and a lot of fun, but very long folded. I think the Nipper V1 is light.

ShortHamstrings · 23/04/2012 13:55

Yes that's the one, I hope it's not too long folded! The Nipper V1 sounds great - light AND easy to push, is it small folded? I looked for one on Ebay before I ordered the Caboose to see if it was an option but none of them specified "V1" so didn't want to risk it!

For comparison:
Combi We2 8.2kg 106x53x43cm folded
Nipper 10kg 90x77x37cm
Joovy Ultralight 10.7kg 109x55x27cm

I would check your carboot measurements as I've struggled with a pushchair of 105cm long folded even though it was fairly small in the other directions.

HypatiaTheProcrastinator · 23/04/2012 16:07

By the way, most Nippers for sale second hand will be V1. The V2 has only been out since September I think so there aren't many about and will probably be advertised as a V2.

ShortHamstrings · 23/04/2012 17:08

Wow thanks H, you are a fountain of buggy knowledge!

The boot should be fine, we have a Zafira but when we go camping every inch is needed!

Can I justify a Nipper as well I wonder...

There's some folded photos at the bottom here.

Tiggywunkle · 23/04/2012 17:20

Lol re the Nipper, the V1 is on offer on the ONA website at present. I would et one to try ;) Much nicer to push!

ShortHamstrings · 23/04/2012 18:00

Sorry for being dumb but what is the ONA website?!
