iCandy Peach - problems with the locking mechanism anyone?

I bought my iCandy Peach (Blackjack) in January 2010 and I love, love, love it. However, I always found that when I used the maxi-cosi car seat one of the two converters you need to attach it to the chassis refused to engage first time. After a few jiggles, it works.

I got the buggy out today for DD2 and it failed to lock on both sides, despite me doing it gently and getting frustrated and hammering it in.

Anyone else had any similar problems? I think I only got a six month guarantee with it so it's well out of guarantee now. Anyone else had any experience of iCandy after-sales service?

Thanks,

I am sure you get a year, or 2 years if you registered it soon after buying? Go and have a read on the iCandy website and then pop and see your retailer.

We had the same problem, it turned out we had the adapters the wrong way around (right and left on the wrong side) and in fact our DTD was in the car seat when it detached itself and fell on the floor upside down. Thankfully she was strapped in!

I had a problem with the handlebar - it kept sticking as I was trying to fold. My advice would be take it to the store you bought it in if the other advice above doesn't work. I rang iCandy but they were quite specific that they should be the first port of call. Turns out I just needed to give it a little polish and it's been fine ever since, and saved me paying out to have the bloody thing shipped back and forth.

We had this issue. Right side first then left side, otherwise they don't engage.

I took ours into the shop we bought it from and they showed us.

Thanks all. Store sent it back to iCandy and they have replaced the adaptors (which we did use correctly) but are charging us 32 quid for the buggy. That includes the shipping fee so I think that's quite reasonable. The retailer I bought it from were extremely helpful too.

Really sorry to hijack but our peach is very scratched and some of the writing has rubbed off even though we have been extra careful. Ds is only 5 months old so we haven't had it long and it is already looking a bit battered.
Does anybody have any experience of iCandy customer services and the likelihood of them changing our frame?

Tiggywunkle · 21/04/2012 22:33

If you have an old style chassis, where the wheels rub the logo when folded, then yes they may do something about that. But not if the writing had generally rubbed off, and they probably wont do anything about scratches in general.

Don't think it's the old style as only bought it in October last year. I'm gutted as we've been so careful even covering it with a blanket when we put it in the boot of the car. I love the pram but wouldn't buy another for this reason.
