Urban Detour shimmy? Experts please!

Help!

I've just got an Urban Detour from ebay for our imminent trip to Kenya (on Sunday) and the shitty thing has got the biggest shimmy on the front wheel unless it's locked straight. Is there anything I can do?

Otherwise I'm going to have to be extra nice to DH to convince him to get me a new one asap. I don't think I'd be able to use it much after Kenya as 8mo ds's head is already near the top of the seat so how about a Nipper 360? They're currently on Kiddicare at £219 which seems quite good?

I know that P&T have a really good seat back length but I also know that many of you don't rate them a lot!

Have you tried it outdoors?

What do you mean by shimmy? I remember trying my 3 wheeler in the shop and finding it went all over the place, and once it had the baby in it and we were on the open pavement, it was fine.

So maybe it's that. Nipper is excellent, you can't go far wrong with that.

Nope - on the school run, so paving slabs, smooth tarmac, the lot. It doesn't do it if I walk really really slowly but if I walk even moderately it wiggles from side to side. I loosened the mechanism slightly but it still did it.

Am really narked. If it goes back it means dealing with paypal etc and having to organise another one to come soon. Thank goodness for Kiddicare's next day delivery!

Thanks.

Oh that does sound rubbish. Sorry. I never had an UD but I knew a lot of people with them and always fancied trying one.

I hope you get your nipper in time.

I've just spent a very happy hour looking at all the options and colours etc. Happy happy!

Even better - well cheaper anyway... it's solved!

I googled it and someone on MN had posted about the same thing last year and got a response it was likely a nut that had come loose under the footplate. Five mins with a spanner later and hey presto its working like a dream!

I still think that I'll need to replace it possibly after the summer as the seat isn't tall enough. And unfortunately I don't think it'll be with a 360 as I rang Oxford Pram Centre to get them to measure it and it's the same height. I think possibly that a P&T is calling unless Baby Jogger do one with air tyres that has a higher back.

Thanks for your help.

Take a look at the Baby Jogger City Versa which now hopefully should come with GT wheels on as well as EVA wheels :)))) Thanks partly to MNetters who added their voice to the post on here. Kooltrade listened! But the Versa seat was an amazing 55.5cms high which was awesome. The GT meanwhile is 54cms high which is huge for a pushchair seat. This is the same seat back as the Easywalker June but the advantage of that one is that the hood tucks away allowing room for growth. All of these have off road wheels although admittedly smaller than your Urban Detour ones.
