Struggling to pump up P&T sport tyre

Not sure whether anyone else has had this issue, but finding it really hard to get a pump to fit the valve on the P&T pushchair well enough for us to be able to reinflate it. The wheel rims are relatively close to the spokes / middle part of the wheel, meaning that the head of the pump won't attach properly and keeps slipping off. Desperate - need to get the pushchair to work by next week, but not working! Any advice or experiences to share MASSIVELY appreciated x x

Dh used the air pump at a garage after we failed to do it with a bicycle pump.
