Another BJCM thread! Sidewalk anyone?

The BJ on Kiddicare.com is called the Sidewalk. It looks the same as the City Mini but is it? If it is, it's something of a bargain and now having decided a BJCM is the way forward I'm happy to pay less Grin

If you need to view its here

Thanks!

It's basically a BJCM 2010 version without the PE board in the back of the seat, the sit up straps or the easier access basket.

HypatiaTheProcrastinator: how come you know soooo much about pushchair ! It is great to have your advices :0

Tiggywunkle · 09/03/2012 17:05

The differences are here.

HypatiaTheProcrastinator · 09/03/2012 23:33

I don't know half as much as some others on here, especially Tiggy. Wink

Tiggywunkle · 10/03/2012 00:33

Shhhh you know more than me about lot of things :)

buttonmoon78 · 10/03/2012 06:03

May I interrupt this little mutual appreciation group? Wink

I'm guessing that the low price is not in your opinion/s compensation for the differences?

Where would I go about getting a genuine BJCM then? Is it a question of shopping around or does someone do them at a good price regularly?

It's a case of phoning up to find prices out. Baby Jogger don't allow advertising. I think given there is a 2011 and now a 2012 version of the City Mini, I would rather get the Mini rather than the Sidewalk. For me the upright seat strap was a big change and this year, having better basket access is good. I am also appreciating the PE board in the rear of the seat although a piece of stiff card inthe old version would probably do the job.

HypatiaTheProcrastinator · 10/03/2012 11:07

We think Tesco and Boots might reduce their 2011 stock soon. They normally do it around March/April and their reductions are often huge, Tesco in particular, but they sell extremely quickly. But I can't guarantee that will happen again.

buttonmoon78 · 10/03/2012 13:32

Just been on Tesco's site - they had the red/black at £200 and the stone/black at £160 but they're both out of stock currently. Will watch with interest!

So does the 2011 version have the upright strap? I think I'm sold on getting a CM rather than a Sidewalk but how will I know if I'm getting flogged a 2011 over a 2012 and does that matter?

When I was in Mothercare the basket was quite hard to access - what model would that be?

Oh, I'm Confused!

The 4 wheel BJCM in stone/black is now £179 on BHS Direct or £188 on Debenhams direct (and in stock as I type :))

buttonmoon78 · 10/03/2012 14:52

Ooo. I like that colourway (unusually for me as I'm very much a black buggy person).

Is the 4 wheel version rated like the 3 wheel one? I've only had a play with the 3 wheel one!

OP posts:
Safmellow · 10/03/2012 16:58

Me too! But I imagine the 4 wheel will be more stable :)

Tiggywunkle · 10/03/2012 18:39

Ok, lots of bits here. First of all the 4 wheel IMHO is much better. It's more stable and I actually think more manoeuvrable. It's my one grr about getting a GT. Secondly, Baby Jogger have ended their contracts with most high street stores so Tesco, Boots, Debenhams etc won't get any more in. I am not sure about Mothercare. They are still selling through John Lewis. So the others stores are most likely dumping stock so its a good time to buy. Mothercare more than likely had the 2011 version. The 2012 is only just arriving. The new basket is really scooped down low for better access - very curved. So I suspect you saw a 2011.

Murtette · 10/03/2012 18:47

The latest Mothercare catalogue includes the new BJCM which it says will be available from April so I would have thought BJCM are continuing to supply Mothercare.

buttonmoon78 · 11/03/2012 06:20

As ever tiggy comes up with the goods. Am mystified how you know all this!

OP posts:
Safmellow · 13/03/2012 10:02

The 4 wheel now £174 on BHS, bargain!

buttonmoon78 · 13/03/2012 11:07

I think I prefer the 3 wheel version though! Certainly in looks and I'm never likely to need it with a car seat so that doesn't bother me in the slightest. Ho hum.
