BJCM or Maclaren Techno XT?

Well, I should have listened. My lovely new Bee is being returned tomorrow after 8 (count 'em, 8) days. It has developed a shopping trolley rattle on one wheel and I'm sorry but after 8 days, no I do not want a replacement.

So, I was thinking P&T originally cos DS is huge at 7m and is not going to get any smaller. I got the Bee cos I wanted him to face me but having used the Triumph over the last day or two, he's been loving facing the world cos he's an ungrateful brat in which case, why spend so much money. Which leaves me in a quandry.

BJCM - are they really as good as everyone says? They look like what I need - easy, quick, good hood, lie flat or near as dammit etc.

XT - I used to hate Maclarens with a passion as they were really rickety and rattly but the Triumph I now have is brand new, bought by a friend to replace the one I had (and only ever used grudgingly for flying) but it's great - the hood is bigger, wheels bigger, brakes better etc. So getting an XT appeals so ds can lie down better.

I do a lot of walking but mainly on pavements for the school run so it doesn't need to be rough and ready. I liked the fact that with the Bee I could push with one hand because of the single handle bar but could I do this with an XT?

Help please!

I haven't got a BJCM, was also between that and a Maclaren XT. I got the Maclaren and you can push it easily with one hand.

I love the BJCM - I have had several updated models and I think its fab. I prefer the 4 wheel version though. Its easy to push one handed and is so easy to use.

If it's any help I got a BJCM about 2 weeks ago and at first I loved it...after using it for 3 days I decided that it wasn't for me and have sold it and got a Maclaren Techno XT.

Im very short though and even though the Maclarens handles are about the same height as the BJCM it's much easier to push.

Oh? you see, I've just been to Mothercare again and had a little push of both and the BJCM seemed better to me. I didn't and still don't like the rickety feeling of the XT. I thought, based on my good experience of the new Triumph that they might have solved it but sadly not. So I'm currently leaning towards the BJCM. They at least accepted by Bee back without a single question!

I think the reason the XT wobbles and the Triumph doesn't is because of the adjustable handles on it.

You will probably love the BJCM...I really did at first and even told Tiggy I did (because Id been debating whether to get that or the B-Agile) but after 3 days it was very clear that it wasn't right for me and it's probably just down to the fact that Im such a midget lol!

Im only 4ft 10 and I was having to hold my arms at shoulder height if that makes sense to push it which made it very hard work...and I definitely couldn't do it with one hand whereas I could the Maclaren. DH was fine with it and actually commented that he liked it (a miracle in itself!) but it just felt wrong for me so sadly it had to go.

Might have a go with a GT one when they are released over here but for now I'll stick with the Maclaren.

BJCM definitely.

Waves back at Buttton, didn't even look at the name in the op when I posted. Grin

XT vote here. I know the BJ is rated very highly by most people but come on they are ugly ugly ugly! Not sure how you got the bee returned for the rattle - it is just what they do and far far superior to XT and BJ. Personal choice, would be XT for me, have a black one in my 'collection' Smile

Have had both, BJCM definitely.

Lifesagame · 07/03/2012 21:37

Have also had both - BJCM without a doubt. Just so much more user friendly and less likely to annoy you in the long term!! I

BJCM, best folding system and offers same comfort as McLaren XT, even more if you use a sheepskin, my 3 and almost a half YO said.... :)
