BJCM Double questions

Have been tentatively looking at doubles this morning- currently 10wk with dc2 and DS will be a week off 2years when baby arrives in September. I've scoured as many threads as I can, and looked online (yet to venture into a pram shop) but am thinking the BJCM double is my preference at the mo. The only problem was that dc2 would have to be forward facing straight away....until I noticed there are carrycot and car seat options available. Has anyone used these? Have these? I can't seem to find any pics of how this would look. Does one set remove or does car seat/carry cot go on top of existing seat an of so does it look like those awful graco tanks?! I've got a maclaren quet for DS at the moment and intend on using this with moby wrap too. But don't think I will manage without a double as we are getting rid of second car when I go mat leave (sob!)

You can't use a car seat on a BJCM Double - only the single.
Theres some carrycot photos here
Before carrycots could be fitted, people used Petit Zia or Graco soft sots.

Thanks tiggy, I appreciate it. From reading on here, I see you are v knowledgable on the subject Smile

I think we could live without the car seat option as we didn't have it with DS and survived.

Do you know if there is anything else that's worth looking at? Or shall I just yearn for the BJCM for the next few months?!

Yes, look at the new BJCMGT :) Much better :)

I feel as though I'm taking my life in my hands to dispute something Tiggy has said but I thought I'd read that you could get a car seat for the BJCM double and that it had some clever mechanism so that if you were using it with only one DC in the double, you had to slide it over to the middle of the double so that the weight was distributed evenly. Perhaps its something which is going to be available on the new GT double rather than on the existing one but I'm sure I've read it somewhere.

Its strange because I missed this thread but have just been checking for comments about people thinking that the new BJCMGT takes a car seat. There's been a real flood of people over the last few weeks saying that it will, but I speak to a Baby Jogger / Kooltrade rep a fair bit and have categorically asked them if they could clarify this. The reply was:

"No adaptors available for any of the side by sides in the UK!"

Yes, there are two car seat adaptors available in the US, and yes the Maxi Cosi one (the one I know about) does impinge on the seat of the child next to the car seat. It also sticks out a fair bit and the feedback from people who imported one hasn't been good, so wasn't recommended by them either. But its not safety approved for the UK, I was told earlier because it doesn't pass the test that checks if a pushchair would tip or not (but I dont know much about safety checks!)

If you have been told there is a car seat adaptor available, where did you hear it from?
