I haven't bought a pram in 7 years - can you educate me on what's new?

Ideally we're looking out for either a travel system or a pram which you can attach a carseat to. Suitable from birth too and can have a buggy board attached. Complete city people so not much chance of needing off road wheels! Price wise we're flexible if it does the job and will last. I have absolutely no idea this time round so any suggestions would be fab!

If you tell us a bit more, we can narrow down to the best options: Do you use public transport? Do you plan on having another child close enough to this one to warrant using a double? Do you have a small carboot? Are you/your partner particularly tall/short or very different heights?

camarelia · 20/02/2012 20:33

Sorry my op was done in a bit of a rush! I'm quite tall (5'8) whilst DH is quite short (5'9) so adjustable hight isn't necessary. I don't use too much of public transport as I walk to most places, which means I want it to be quite light. Large boot so not an issue there. Oh and no more children either!

Also, when are you due as there are lots due out this year? And do you want it to face you in pushchair mode as well as pram mode? If you do lots of walking, I'd look for big rear wheels.

My top suggestions would be:
UppaBaby Vista
Bugaboo Cameleon
iCandy Peach
Baby Jogger City Mini GT (due end of April)
Baby Jogger Versa (due this summer)
BabyStyle Oyster
BabyStyle Oyster Max (due this summer)
Joolz Day
Silver Cross Surf (terrible storage, but good for everything else)

HypatiaTheProcrastinator · 20/02/2012 20:42

All of those have tall handles so should work well for you.

That's great, thanks! I'm due before summer but I'll still keep an eye out in case a last minute change is needed once baby is here.

I agree with Hypatia's list but I would add on the iCandy Strawberry and even the Cherry too.

We absolutely love our micralite superlite. Really lightweight, easy to handle, bright colours, British made, v funky and reasonably priced. You can attach maxi cosi carseat to it really easily for a pram or look at the micralite toro for something a bit more substantial. Only prob was none if the local stockists had it in the shop and eventually saw it in the flesh by chance in the airport. We had a good chat withe couple about it then ordered it online. Love it!

Forgot to say, it has a buggy board attachment as well. X

This time round we've gone for a Silver Cross Surf and have to agree about the storage, which is an issue. Otherwise it has been great, though.

Micralite Toro. Nuna pepp- really light and can be used as a travel system to. Depends if you want to use a really light stroller or a more substantial pushchair. Every time I buy a big one followed by a light weight you would think I would learn but I love shiny ones.

I've just taken delivery of my Bee - love it. DD1 is 14 and ds2 is 7m so I've had quite a lot of buggies over the years!

I very much love it Grin. DS is huuuuge so required something with a seat which would last him as he's outgrown his Loola.

I know Bees are a love hate thing like Marmite and I know the 2011 model had a lot of issues, but I bought new (not cheap - £410 for base+hood as I have no need for a travel system) so that I got a full warranty. I got Mothercare to price match as (again, although they get slated on here) when I had a problem with ds1's pram they couldn't have been more helpful.

I do have a umbrella buggy which I use if we fly but I have a suspicion that I will continue to love the Bee.
