Pushchair for holidays - baby with be 3 months' old
HappyAsEyeAm · 14/02/2012 16:13
We are having our second baby, and have booked a holiday in the UK which we will be driving to, when the baby will be 3 or 4 months old.
We have a Bugaboo Frog (the predecessor to the Cameleon), but I'm hoping to avoid having to take that with us as it takes up so much room.
Will the baby be too small then for a Maclaren or similar, do you think? If not, which models would you recommend? Happy to pay up to about £150/200 if necessary, on the basis that this would be out holiday buggy until the baby no longer nededed one.

Get a Baby Jogger city mini. With the wheels popped off it will lie flat on top of your luggage or even slide between the seats. Fab pushchair and suitable from birth. Don't be afraid to buy second hand as there is a lifetime warranty on the chassis.

Mclaren techno xt is great and baby can be in it from newborn. Enjoy!

I would get something with an umberella fold - like McLaren XT - because then you can use it for all sorts of travelling - if you have to go on a bus or a train or whatever and need something which folds quickly, easily and with one hand.

I've had an XT and now have a BJCM. I'd say get a Bjcm - apart from the fact I think it's a far superior pushchair i think it's easier to pack. The XT is long when folded and the wheels really stick out so it could only go diagonally in my boot (and i have a reasonable sized car) making it difficult to pack on top of or around things. The Bjcm is more of a square flat fold so fits better slotted in on top or at the sides.

We took dd1 on holiday at 3 months with a cheap Mothercare Jive.
We've just stopped using it eight years (and many miles) later.
Not for the same child I hasten to add.

hi, we went away when ds1 was 6 months and got a maclaren techno xt with a travel bag. it's great for travelling, lies flat and has a footrest and a large hood that extends for rain showers and sun.
:)
