bugaboo question

I have a cameleon. expecting DC2 in July. Ideally would like to get an extra full carrycot so can just swap seat units so I can have DD in buggy and baby in sling or baby in carycot when DD at nursery or if she's in the mood to walk. Have asked at local shop about buying the seat frame, fabrics etc as standalone and that'll be over £150 which seems madness.

I've seen a couple of frog carrycots on ebay - will they fit on a cameleon? Anyone want to sell me a cameleon seat or a carrycot?

how old is dd?

sleeplessinderbyshire · 02/02/2012 22:30

she's 2.5 now so will be 2.11 when DC2 is born. I appreciate she'll not need a buggy for all that long but for long walks she will still need a buggy I am certain after a weekend with a mate with a 2.11yr old who is a mile better walker than DD has even been who still neeeded to go in the buggy to ensure we weren't dawdling along at toddler pace when in a rush

My DS was a little older when DD came along. He became a very good walker very quickly!

I have a cameleon and decided on a buggy board. DS enjoyed it and it sped things up!

Given her age I would consider getting an umbrella fold. DS was in a maclaren from 18m and we found it much easier

Obviously depends on the walk. I was walking 20-30 mins at a stretch generally

i already have a zia and am getting a hand me down P&T sport from a mate, I just know my favourite buggy will always be the cameleon

I know how you feel. But my maclaren is a real warhorse and is smoother than I expected

I have had 27 prams and would choose a cam hands down. My Ds1 was 2.7 when ds2 was born and we had a few doubles but mostly he went on the wheeled board. You can buy 2nd hand cam carrycots on Ebay.

Have u looked on eBay? You can usually pick up cameleon seat frames or fabrics cheapish.
I don't think the frog fits properly :-(
Mothercare sell the seat frames online for 84.95 which is bugaboo's rrp. If you already have a cameleon do you need extra fabrics as well as a second frame?
If you just bought a second frame you could have your seat fabric on one and carrycot base on the other, then just switch the hood/canopy onto whichever one you need to use that day?

Can you tell I've looked into doing the same thing as you?! Grin

sleeplessinderbyshire · 02/02/2012 23:00

The frame doesn't include the board bit that goes at the bottom. The fabrics don't include that bit either....

isn't the board only for the cot?

suzie38 · 02/02/2012 23:03

The seat frames are interchangeable but the Frog fabrics so seat and carrycot are shorter by about 2" than the Cameleon.

Ineedacleaneriamalazyslattern · 02/02/2012 23:09

I have a chameleon as well and agree you only need 1 seat 1 carrycot and 2 of the frames. Have one frame set up as carrycot and one set up as the seat unit. You only need the board for the carrycot so if you have 2 frames you won't need anything else. The only thing that you would need off the carrycot would be the hood and that is easy swapped between one and other.

BlueAndRedMakePurple · 04/02/2012 12:31

The frog carrycot is too small for a Cameeleon. The seat frame on the cameleon is about 2" longer.

VillaEphrussi · 04/02/2012 13:12

Not sure if this is what you are looking for, but I have a Cameleon seat unit with bumper bar, seat fabric and hood in 'Sand' in very good/virtually as new condition which I'd be willing to sell for half of what you were quoted, say £75, if you're interested? But it doesn't have the carrycot bits, i.e. the board etc., so I don't know if it's what you need? HTH

VillaEphrussi · 04/02/2012 13:23

It's basically the same as the top half of this, if you lift the top part off and leave the chassis behind IYSWIM Sorry I don't know how to link to one of my own photos!
