Double buggy advice please

Sorry to resurrect a very dull topic but would value advice. Going to have a35 month age gap so know I could just go for a buggy board however we walk quite a lot and having spent the weekend with a mate with a 35 month old and baby I realise there's no way we'll manage everything we normally do without a double for some days out. We currently have a bugaboo cameleon which I love (use the snow tyres for off road walking and it's OK but I wish it were a 3 wheeler)

I know I definietely want one with off road capability for walks in the woods with both kids and really with no 2 when no1 is at nursery for the day and I'm with friends. Thinking inline may be better as would feel less stupid pushing an inline with one child than with a side by side (and like the idea of a huge space for shopping/bike/scooter etc if toddler wants to walk or I'm out on my own with baby)

Looking to buy second hand. Am totally confused by the multitude of different variations on a Phil and Ted's theme and the "compare products" page on their website has not helped at all.

What on earth are the differences and can anyone recommend one? Mate has P&T sport but am not totally sold on that one (as it's only inline double I've ever been close up to). Aiming to buy secondhand to save some money as DH unconvinced this is a good plan

I get confused too. Try this and choose the P&Ts.

My concern really is that with a P&Ts the eldest sits on top of the front seat when the baby is newborn like the bottom left photo here. If you have a tall child, then they may not be able to get under the hood, as they are sat higher than they usually would be. I know my friends son aged 2.5 couldn't get his head under his model and when the raincover was on, it was flat on his face which he hated. He also had the rear bar of the seat digging into the back of his head. As the photo shows, he isn't sat comfortably at all.

I honestly think you may be better with a cheap second hand side by side eg a Nipper, Air Buggy Mimi, Baby Jogger Classic or Elite double, Easywalker Duo or Mountain Buggy for those woodland walks, and keep your Cam as a single (maybe with the Bugaboo Board on the back - maybe even with the seat on the top? But they can be as much to buy as a second hand pushchair!)

DD is tiny (2nd centile so not worried about that) Tried the comparison thing and still don't get it

If your in Cheshire I have a mclarens push stroller double you can have 4 free? It's 2nd hand off a mate and we have never used it!

Ok, what do you need? Reclining lower seat? Car seat?
If you are buying second hand then the Sport is probably the last problematic ie no recalls or ssues

Tiggywunkle · 30/01/2012 09:38

Sorry I hit send some how trying to alter 'issues'. The Sport is rumoured to have most space between the seats. Otherwise the two current 'traditional' P&Ts are the Explorer and Classic.

If your looking for a side by side I would recommend the nipper 360. There was a years difference between my boys and I used it almost every day for 2 1/2 years it's got to be the best pushchair I've had! And I have had about 8-9 over the years for all my children!
