Best umbrella type stroller from birth?

I'm after an umbrella stroller for my newborn. It has to be this type as I will be doing daily bus journeys to collect my older ds from school. I will need to be able to fold it one handed and for it to be quite light. I was looking at the MacLaren XT, but are there any other ideas for me? Thank you!

This thread is a little old now, but if you’ve landed here looking for an umbrella buggy, we’ve recently updated our best umbrella strollers page with lots of great options, as tried and tested by Mumsnet users. We hope you find it useful. Flowers

I'd get a Baby Jogger City Mini or Britax B-Agile. They're much easier to fold than umbrella strollers-you just pull a handle in the middle of the seat and it folds in half. They're also better quality and nicer to push with bigger baskets that you can actually get things into, unlike most-if not all-umbrella folds.

If you really, really want an umbrella fold, I liked the Chicco LiteWay. I would have to be physically forced into ever buying a Maclaren again.

BJCM. Such a doddle to fold. Link here to a video - this is the double but single is the same but obv just one strap so one hand fold..

video is only 4 secs long so don't blink or you'll miss it!!

I agree. Get a BJCM or B-Agile instead. Both are one handed folds although the B-Agile is a two handed open, so the BJCM is better. Easy to carry too. Great pushchairs. Both lie flat so are suitable from birth. There is also the BJCMGT on the way.

Thank You all. I am not particularly bothered about it being an umbrella, I just assumed that it was my only option really. I like the look of the city jogger though. Cheers Smile

Maclaren invented the umbrella folding pushchair so naturally their pushchairs are hard to beat. However Baby jogger are on to something with their compact fold, I think the patented the folding system. If you're quick you can pick up a baby jogger city mini pushchair here for £150 - www.pramsupermarket.com/compare-baby-jogger-city-mini-pushchair

There is also the Maclaren XLR. Unbrella fold, and can be made into a travel system with a carry cot and a car seat.
