Baby Jogger City Mini Car Seat Compatability

Hi, we are expecting our first DC are are planning to get a BJCM. I can see that it is possible to get adapters to allow it to take a car seat but it seems difficult to find definitive information on which car seats are compatible.

The most common statement I can find is this:
"Designed to fit several popular car seats including, Peg Perego Primo Viaggio, Britax Companion, Maxi Cosi and most Graco and Evenflo car seat models"

There is also a list here (but on the US site & some don't seem to be available in the UK): BabyJoggerUS

I did search MN but can't seem to find any more detailed information. From what I have read there should be more that would work if not I guess we will just go for a Maxi Cosi.

I have a City mini, but didn't have a car seat. I was told a Maxi Cosi Pebble or Cabio fit with the adaptors. It would be best for you to go to a pram centre or big Mothercare to get the correct fittings etc.

It's a fab pushchair BTW.

Ok, you need the UK car seat adaptors which only take the Maxi Cosi Cabriofix or Pebble, or the Baby Jogger City Auto car seat will also fit. The US adaptors are not safety approved for use in the UK. You need the UK website: www.babyjogger.co.uk/accessories.html

If you plan to use a car seat BTW, the 4 wheel version will be much more stable. I found the 3 wheeler with car seat on fairly tippy at times. I swapped to a 4 wheel City Mini to get the stability.

Sorry, one final one. There are two ways to attach a car seat. The easiest s via two plug in car seat adaptors. But if you use the bigger universal bracket for the hard bodied carrycot, then apparently these can be used as car seat adaptors too. But someone on here not long ago said they wanted to buy the plug in version for the car seat because the other system was a bit cumbersome to use.

If you want other options, the BeSafe Izi Sleep, Stokke Izi (these two are actually the same seat), Cybex Aton and the soon to be released Nuna Pipa all use the same connections as Maxi-Cosi, so could be used on the BJCM in theory too.

Thanks all. I have to say you have been a LOT clearer & more helpful than the baby jogger website :)

That someone was me - tiggy.

Yes plug the plug in adaptors and get a Cabrio. So bloody quick and easy!

Tiggywunkle · 23/01/2012 22:26

Glad you are still here dietcoke. How is life, baby and the BJCM?

onadietcokebreak · 24/01/2012 03:53

Oh bugger half my post disappeared or did I just imagine writing it?!! Tired fog of baby sleep deprivation! Sorry above post sounded rude.

Still been around tiggy in various guises.

Still love my bjcm but not "in love" with it as much these days!

The hard bodied carrycot on the adaptors makes it's very high up on the chassis. Had alot of comments on the school run about it. Even a child commented! At 5ft2 I find it hard to see over it!

Love the car seat on the frame. Had several compliments and envy about how light it is. No tipping issues for me but know others have had them.

Plus i really really want a parent facer and a beach buggy!

Will be moving baby into the seat of the bjcm soon and have a choice of two buggysnuggles. Will be great to be able to see where I'm going just going to miss seeing my baby girl!

onadietcokebreak · 24/01/2012 03:55

Ps the raincover fits over carrycot ok albeit a little snug.

With me putting fabric on seat soon I envisage i will need to remove hood to get car seat on otherwise it will be too fiddly when attaching it.

onadietcokebreak · 24/01/2012 04:19

Another disadvantage of using the baby jogger car seat is I suspect it won't fit on top of supermarket trolleys due to the width of it with the inbuilt adaptors plug ins. This is only a guess based on friends experience of the obaby zezu which is a similar design. Happy to be proved wrong.

Also with the maxi cosi you can get a in car base which I have found invaluable especially on busy school run!

Tiggywunkle · 24/01/2012 09:35

Good to hear you are ok. Its interesting feedback that the carrycot sits high up and that the raincover fits. I had no problems getting the car seat on with fabric in situ. It's just high as the baby gets heavier! It's good that it's not been tippy for you with the car seat on though.

The advantage of the Maxi Cosi is the universal fit. Most leading pushchair brands take a Maxi-Cosi car seat. So if you decide to change pushchair or need a double later then it will probably fit. Like you say the base is bliss!

Wanting a parent facer and beach buggy sounds like the start of an addiction to me Wink
