Upgrade the icandy apple or just get a new double??
verycherry82 · 20/01/2012 13:19
Help me please! I currently have the icandy apple which I love and which has been brilliant for my little boy. I am now pregnant with number 2 (due in May) and my DS will be 17 months when the new baby arrives.
I had planned to simply upgrade the icandy apple to the pear using the pip converter kit but having looked into it and enquired about prices it's looking like it's going to cost £510 for the pip converter kit, carrycot fabric and flavour pack and foot muff which seems a bit extreme.
I suppose the question is whether anybody who has upgraded their apple thought it was worth it or whether I'd be better off getting a new double. If that is the case, any recommendations would be great!
Thank you all for the advice.

Honestly, I would probably stick with the Pear if you are happy with it. It should see you through. You can pick Pear Convertor kits up easily off EBay but see it as a rental because you should get a good chunk of money back on resale. Given you have the Apple seat, it will last you longer as well because the Apple seat is taller. The only tandem I would recommend that would cost you less with a carrycot option would be the Britax B-Dual, (there are side by sides cheaper / a similar price to the upgrade kit) but I think if the Pear meets your needs (be aware your basket space disappears and the baby is always the lowest one), then you would be best sticking with it. No tandem is perfect but the Pear is one of the better ones.
