After lots of good advice here I'd decided on the McClaren Techno, but have now been looking at the Quinny Buzz....I'd appreciate thoughts and experiences. I need something light, that will fold away small and that I can use from birth....

Thanks

I don't think the Buzz is light, is it? It's bloody massive! Are you thinking of the Zapp?

saltyair · 08/01/2012 10:12

no...you can't use them from birth I don't think.

Is the buzz huge? I don't know....am working on a coupld of friends raving about them and pictures on T'internet (Obviously I will be going to actually try before I buy, but I wanted to go in with the collective wisdon of MN behind me!!)

The buzz is big and not exactly light, but I do love ours!

It's v versatile.

If I want small & light, I use a sling!

BuckminsterFullerene · 08/01/2012 10:16

The zapp xtra (or whatever) reclines so it can be used from birth.

saltyair · 08/01/2012 10:20

How small does it fold down Buck?

If you want small and light, I think the new Quinny Zapp Xtra is suitable from birth. It is forward and rear facing too. I had a regular zapp which I have passed on to my SIL, we both love it! Here is a link to the Zapp Xtra

That does look good, actually...

Too much choice!

I hated my Buzz, it couldn't be much further from being light and small! Hmm

The problem with the zapp xtra is the seat doesn't fold at all and you have to remove it from the chassis to fold the chassis. It's just not as small as it could be. But it is parent facing which is lovely to have with a small, light pushchair. I'd go and try it out if you can.

saoirse86 · 08/01/2012 10:29

I forgot to say, the zapp xtra says it's suitable from birth but the seat is a bucket type and so isn't great for a newborn IMO. They really need to be lying completely flat from birth.

AnEcumenicalMatter · 08/01/2012 10:34

The Buzz is awful. I was considering it so had some practice with my friend's buzz. It is wide, heavy and requires some effort to fold.

The Zapp Xtra is better in terms of being lighter and more compact. When I looked at it in a shop, the assistant said that he couldn't recommend it from birth due to the shape of the seat.

ProcrastinationStation · 08/01/2012 10:44

It can be used with the maxi cost car seat from birth if you need to buy a car seat too, I managed to get connectors for mine for SIL from eBay for £6

I hate my quinny buzz. It fits in the boot of my Suzuki swift, just. It's too bulky. DH chose it. If it wasn't so expensive I'd replace it.

aswellasyou · 08/01/2012 11:02

I don't understand some people's love of the Buzz-I think it's petty awful. For comparison with the Techno XLR;
Buzz: Weight 12kg, Folded 100x67x32cm, 67cm wide unfolded
XLR: 7.5kg, folded 110x30x30.5, 53cm wide unfolded
Most non-stroller single pushchairs are around 60cm wide, so the Buzz really is huge.
