Can someone explain the differences please (I have googled but remain confused!).
I need one for commuting and the city was recommended, went to have a look in JL and like very much. It's £220 but have noticed the micro is about £100 less.
DS is 9mo and would want to use until walking if poss as we already have an icandy, so ideally don't want to buy another!

i think i am right in saying, the micro has smaller wheels, is heavier, has almost no recline, has smaller hood and lots of people hate them, where as the city mini is loved alot Smile hth

Agreed :)

There was the old version of the City Mini for sale at Halfords last week for £150.

Thanks for the info - sorry if I sound stupid Blush put it down to sleep deprivation.

Can anyone do a quick synopsis of the differences with the city's?

I think Prams said it above.
Micro - small wheels, slight recline, 2 fold hood, heavier chassis - discontinued
Mini - bigger wheels, lie flat recline, 3 fold hood, lighter than Micro
Sidewalk - old version of mini chassis, no PE board, no sit upright strap, lesser quality fabrics, different branding
Mini GT - new due out in 2012 - like City Mini but better - small forever air tyres, handbrake, bigger seat, better basket access, adjustable handlebar
Elite - big chunky forever air wheels, large footrest, lift up calf rest which also gives extra access to the basket, fab parent console, handbrake. Adjustable handlebar.
Summit - even bigger (16" rear) wheels - good for jogging.

The Mini really is the one you need for commuting.

Thanks very much, that's fantastic, will google for a good price for the city mini!

I adore my Mini, got it preloved from another MNer, use it for 11 week old (with P&T Cocoon to keep her snug), and 3 yo when he's tired. It is flexible enough to suit both, folds quickly, easily and small (great for hallways, buses and car boots) and hood is brilliant for keeping out wind, rain and sun with no need for covers. If my house ever burns down, it would be the first thing I'd rescue (the DC can get themselves out Wink).

I also adore my city mini, I have the 4 wheeled version and much, much, much prefer it to the bugaboo cameleon i had previously. It's just so user friendly with fab features such as the hood and my 1 year old always looks comfy in it whether he's sat up or laid back sleeping. It's a dream to use on the 2 mile preschool trip and pushes brilliantly one-handedly even laden with bags. I still get a smug grin on my face when it takes me 5 seconds to to pick it up and load it in the car when we're out!!

Tiggywunkle · 05/01/2012 19:12

Shock 5 seconds!! Shock Can't you do it in 3???? Wink

teaandbiscuitsplease · 05/01/2012 20:34

Have to take a couple of seconds to check out the envious looks of other people as they contend with their more cumbersome pushchairs!! Grin

Tiggywunkle · 05/01/2012 20:37

I like the all in one, scoop child out, fold as walking on move lol I haven't perfected the cartwheel at the end yet though Wink

NewChoos · 05/01/2012 21:03

Last question from me (Promise!) Halfords only have the red for £150, anyone seen the black or purple for a good price? Cheapest so far is £199 inc rain cover. Seem reasonable?

OP posts:
Tiggywunkle · 05/01/2012 22:01

The thing you need to be aware of is that the Halfords one is a 2010 version hence the low price. This means a) you wont get it in the purple b) it wont have the sit upright strap and c) it wont have the PE board in the rear of the seat.
Just to add Mothercare have the 2012 version on their website to preorder in black. The 2012 version will have a fully lined hood, lowered rear bar for better access to the basket and an autolock (which can be removed if you dont wish to have this).

Tiggywunkle · 05/01/2012 22:01

Oh and just to add, if you wait a few more weeks, you may find that companies like Tesco start to dump 2011 stock.....

maydaychild · 05/01/2012 22:17

Damn. I want new model. With 4 wheels. In purple.
Am broke.
Sigh

Tiggywunkle · 05/01/2012 22:21

LOL There wont be a purple 4 wheeler to my knowledge....I can't for the life of me remember the new colours!
