Anyone have a donkey? Need some honest feedback on how you find it!
I have purchased one ready to use in March when baby comes along with my son who will be 23 months at this time.

Worrying about getting about with it as it seems so huge! (havent actually used one yet, just pushed around the shop/baby show etc)

Any feedback is useful, thank you!

Well i used one in mono mode and out of 43 pushchairs it's been my favorite...I only sold it because i went from a Vauxhall Meriva down to a tiny Hyundai i10 car and i knew it'd hardly get used, and the money would come in handy since i've bought a lot of other expensive pushchairs, and i knew it'd sell well...Ant specific questions just ask away.

Just a few negatives - the seats can't be fully reclined when forward facing, the car seat adds a lot to the width and I saw a Donkey with shopping on the rear the other day and the baby had been taken out and the whole pushchair was at an angle! But it's very pretty and you can have both children parent facing, and without the car seat on it will fit through a standard door, and can be used as a single.

Have since been reading other postson here and it seems that bugaboos are not well liked on here?
I adore my gecko, i have customised it to death and believe its the best pram i've ever had (hense why i opted for the donkey when found out i was expecting babynumber2!) the donkey will be my 7th pram so not a complete novice!

How did you find getting around town with it? (duo mode) im worried about transport mostly! Buses/trains etc!

Hello, does anyone know what the donkey weighs when set up as a double? Also how wide is it as a double? Is it possible to go through normal doorways as a double or do people struggle with this?
Thank you

It's an appropriate name. Nothing says 'ass' quite like a £1000 buggy.

Tiggywunkle · 01/02/2012 22:34

Yes it weighs 15kgs in Duo mode.
It is 74cms in Duo mode so easily goes through a standard 76.2cms wide door frame. However a car seat (or two) does make the Donkey wider than a standard door frame.

Popper, I don't know if you have tried the Donkey, but having had over 30 double pushchairs, the Donkey stands out with the best of them as being superb. It is beautifully designed and handles like a dream. There are several other brands which cost a similar amount, and all are great pushchairs and worth the money for the ease of use, pushing and style.

It is perfectly possible, if you have the money to invest in an expensive pushchair for you to get most of your money back on resale than buying a cheaper pushchair which you end up throwing away. Indeed I have made a profit on a Bugaboo because of two price increases and because I bought well in the first place. But yes, it is a huge chunk of money to pay out in one go.

Believe me, there are very few double pushchairs that push well with two toddlers on board and the Bugaboo Donkey is extremely good and I highly recommend it.

Thank you. I have a second hand Phil and teds and it's like pushing a tank so am keen to get one which is easier to push

suzie38 · 02/02/2012 16:38

Well in mono mode it literally pushes itself, but can't comment what it's like with 2 children on board...I miss my Donkey, as does DH.

Tiggywunkle · 02/02/2012 17:39

I have just got back from a grocery shop with the Donkey with two bigger children and I agree that the Donkey pushes itself - quite literally!! I could let it go and it would roll even on the flat!! Theres nothing tank like about it. I wish I had bought one when they first came out so that I could have enjoyed it more.
