Any of you pram lovers know what this is and where I can get one?

My sister is looking for a double pram for her twins (due in April/May depending on what dates you go by )

She has set me the task of finding her a pram she saw on television!

A double buggy with carry seats that lift out so just the frame goes in boot & the seats are strapped into the car.

I'm cheating & asking you lovely lot, as my youngest child is 7, it's a long long time since I needed a pram!

She's not too hot on the net so would have no idea where to start herself!

IMO it's not a great idea if it's your only pram,
it isn't brilliant for babies to be sat up in car seats for prolonged periods anyway and with this you have no option but to leave them in them,
and once they've grown out of their infant carriers you need to buy a new pushchair,

personally i would get a proper pushchair that you can put car seats on if you really need to, but can also use flat for baby

There are a lot of doubles where you can fit the baby car seats onto the pushchair chassis. You can swap and use a carrycot or seat unit either.
These pushchairs do that: Baby Jogger City Select, iCandy Peach, iCandy Pear, Britax B-Dual, Bugaboo Donkey, First Wheels City Twin, O'Baby Zoom, TFK Twinner Twist Duo, Mountain Buggy Duo and Duet, Easywalker Duo and more! Have a look here for information on all these and more.

Thanks for that. I have no idea what she's talking about. I thought she meant one like our Chicco one where the baby seat lifted out but the baby could still be lying down if no car seat in.

The tandems tend to have fixed seat units so it's dead easy to switch between car seat / carrycot / seat unit (carrycot pre six months and seat unit generally post six months). The side by side doubles in general need the seat fabric removing to put the car seat or carrycot on, and at six months you then put the seat fabric back on. There are a couple of exceptions to this.

Perhaps she didn't realise that pretty much all proper double pushchairs take at least one carseat. She has a lot to choose from. Does she have a budget? It's worth noting that carseats shouldn't be used as the main seat as babies should spend no more than 2 hours at a yime in carseats.

Twinkle, do you know if the Phil and Teds Promenade will take two carseats? It looks like it should.

No the Promenade at present only takes one car seat. Apparently they are working on getting a second seat on the chassis.

That one on Amazon, takes Graco car seats which you can buy over here.

There are a number of doubles that can take carseats on board, so you're not limited to just one :).

The ones I know of that take two at the same time are: Baby Jogger City Select, iCandy Pear, ABC Zoom; Bugaboo Donkey and Stroll-Air MyDuo (brilliant, IMHO).

So really it depends on whether she can have a side-by-side or is restricted to a tandem. Side-by-side is really the best option, especially for twins. But if she has any tight corners to turn or a tiny lift to get into or needs to get on the tube... you get the picture :)

To be honest it could have been any of those pushchairs listed by others. We just wouldn't know without a bit more info or a picture. Do you know what programme it was on?

That stroll-air looks almost too good to be true elk! it's only 74cm wide, weighs 12kg, the weight limit for each seat is 18kg, it takes 2 car seats with adapters... the only catch seems to be the folded size isn't the shape of a normal boot but it does fold down nice and flat. There are lots of pics here. That looks worth considering!

She really needs to at least google those pushchairs listed and work out what she needs out of one in order to narrow it down. Oh and budget will make a big difference too! She can always ask for more advice and experience of the ones she's considering. And she should go and try some out. I'm not sure about other John lewis' but the one in Solihull has lots of doubles on display if she's nearby.

I have the TwinGo which is the Australian produced version of the Stroll-Air My Duo, and I think it is fabulous. I considered importing the Stroll-Air My Duo earlier this year and I really wish I had got the Stroll-Air because the spec is better. It fits easily into my boot. Car boot photos are at the bottom If I were starting again then I would definitely be buying one. We love our TwinGo.

BTW Stroll-Air are hoping to bring the My Duo to the UK soon :)

Saoirse, I told you about the Stroll-Air before! You must have just forgotten because it's so expensive including importing it. We can have another look when it makes it here. It's close to being the perfect side by side, the only downside being the folded size. Your humongous carboot would fit it in though. With room for an Easywalker June next to it.

That's sorted then! The main chassis isn't that big to be honest. The wheels pop off nicely. The seats can be left on or off. I think the upper weight limit is 20kgs per seat - that's 3kgs more than a Donkey :)

I've just looked it up on BB and it's actually really narrow. It still wouldn't go in our Mum's boot but she's about to get her redundancy payout so she can buy a big new one.

I thought the power twin was lovely to push but i wouldn't recommend it for twins as at least one will always have to be in a car seat from birth. Then when they get to the older baby/young toddler age the front seat isn't great as it's so upright even when reclined.

I would never recommend the Powertwin. It's got too any issues whatever the childrens ages. The Zoom although seems fab has a reputation for bits breaking and being expensive to fit. Two retailers have refused to sell me one.
