First-timer - Baby Jogger City Mini or Bugaboo Cameleon?

Hi - I went looking for buggies yesterday and really liked the Baby Jogger City Mini due to its' lightness and really easy folding mechanism. However, wherever I go in London, I see the Bugaboo Cameleon buggy everywhere and do like this one, but it seems a lot more cumbersome and heavy. Does anyone have any experience of both and can help with which one is better? Is the Baby Jogger as sturdy / high quality and as suitable for a newborn? I know there is a big price difference between the BJCM and Cameleon, and can't understand why so many people have chosen the Cameleon.

Until recently baby jogger weren't well know. I bought mine last year on recommendation and I had been planning on a bugaboo.

I'm a total convert! We got the carry cot with it so no difference there and it travels really well, so simple to use and amazing value IMO.

Hi! I Don't have experience about the baby jogger but I love my bugaboo chameleon . I got it 2006 when my son was 1y and used it for about 3 years walking around, buses, train even taxis when he was older and in the seat strapped in. Now planning to use it with our next one due in April . It's still in very good condition and the carrycot is actually unused because my son was already 1y when we bought it. I found it really practical and so good to push even with one hand carrying an umbrella or a coffee. It wasn't too big to fit in buses or through isles in shops and the basket underneath had plenty on space for shopping . Also very comfortable for DS. Basically still love it and won't be getting a new one or this baby . We do also have a bugaboo bee for travelling but didn't want to have just that . Chameleon is much more sturdy and better to push etc. I do find the new bugaboo donkey too wide to comfortably get around in buses although some people with twins do manage to get sidebyside double prams in buses through the middle door. However if we'll have DC3 soon after this one I'll probably get the Donkey :)

... One drawback on the chameleon is that at least my model is a bit difficult to fold so if you drive around a lot and don't like folding them all the time it might not be the best choice ( that's another reason we also got the bugaboo bee ) but you can clip on a car seat on the chassi...

The two are really different classes of pushchair. The Chameleon is a more expensive pushchair and for that you get a seat unit which goes both ways, proper carrycot, apron, mattress etc. The Baby Jogger City Mini is more of a stroller ie lightweight, seat unit is part of the whole pushchair etc. A lot of people who have a Chameleon will probably also have a BJCM or a stroller for travelling or in the car. Personally I have had both, and love both for different reasons. The BJCM will certainly do the job of transporting your child from a to b from birth to probably four, very well and you should never wish for another pushchair. The Chameleon in theory is actually smaller than the Bee when folded - it's certainly flatter in a car boot, but the hood, cosy toes etc all add to the bulk. The BJCM is just small and neat! The 'sensible' option is to o for a BJCM from birth but a lot of people prefer a bigger pushchair like a Bugaboo, Uppababy Vista, Silvercross Surf etc.
