calling all buggy experts

I need some advice.

I have a big 3 wheeler for country walks.
I got a Micralite Superlite as a smaller buggy for taking in the car and shopping etc, but when we use it, I worry that my little boy is uncomfortable without a leg or foot rest. Also, it's still quite wide and not that small when folded.

So, should I get a Maclaren Quest or something like that, which is really light and dinky, but still has a foot rest etc, or will I find the push awful after only having air tyres before?

Never tried a quest but have a techno xt for my almost 3yo and its lovely to push, light and easy, and I'm used to phil and teds/mutsy urban etc. And for town use its no extra effort.

i hate buggys, but i do own a micralite and a mothercare jive buggy, and the buggy is not a bad push really, the micralite is easier, but in all honesty in town walking i don't think you will find much difference, unless your lo is a heavy toddler of course, i would not get anything larger than a quest though.

do you / did you use the leg rest much? do you think I am right that my little boy is uncomfy with his legs just dangling? It wasn't something I thought of when I bought it as he was a little 6 month old and the seat supported his legs.

I don't really like umbrella folds, but I seem to have a bit of a soft spot for maclarens - probably because I remember being in mine, (quite a long time ago). They do seem to have good comfort features for their size and weight. My little boy is little. He's 20 months old and average height, but only just over 10kg.

my ds can reach the footrest on the micralite, but dd can not and she always looks really comfy and has never complained [shes a tiny 3 year old]

Now she's taller I put the leg rest down and she has her feet on the strap/foot rest thing, but when she sleeps she likes her legs up.

I think its comfier for her as we have a mutsy to and parent facing her legs dangle and she can't seem to sit still.

Fwiw, this mac was handed down to me its 6yrs old and going strong, and they really hold value at re-sale

maybe I'm just worrying too much, or becoming a minor pramaholic...
He's a bit too young to tell me whether he is comfy or not, it's just that he can't really move about in the seat or alter his sitting position, which I thought might be an issue, though I originally thought the hammock seat would be nicer for him than a more rigid one?

I am very tempted to get a Quest - it would be less than £100 on Boot.com, but is 3 pushchairs too many?

3 pushchairs is not alot trust me get a quest if thats what you want, go on treat yourself, have you seen the baby jogger city mini they fold really small and get rave reviews on here, i can not have one as the handle height is too tall for me, but i wish i was taller, or the b-agile, that has a very low handle

yes - I really like the city mini. My big 3 wheeler is a city elite, so I did nearly get one before I got the Micralite, but he was going through a phase of getting very frustrated about not being able to see around him well, which is something that the Micralite is excellent for.

I was leaning more towards the Maclaren for several reasons - its lighter; the fabric all folds inwards, so is kept clean when travelling; it has a narrower wheel base.

Otherwise, I prefer the city mini though!

oooo do you find the width of the elite ever a problem, i do love the elite but the width has put me off, those back wheels do stick out a bit.

The width is generally a good thing on rough terrain, which is what I got it for - it makes it more stable. However, there is a foot bridge on one of our dog walks that it is too wide for - we have to pop the back wheels off, (dead easy), and push it through like a wheel barrow. I can do this single handed, but tend to avoid it.

I have used it in shops etc, but it is a bit of a monster, though very manouverable.

I would find it far too stressful to take it onto a London bus - because of the length and width.

Otherwise, I find the width of the Micralite more of a problem, even though it is narrower, because the width is at the front, I sometimes drive a front wheel into something as I can't see where it is exactly.
