Baby Jogger City Select double

I have an old Baby Jogger City Classic (no longer made, don't know why, but v similar to City Elite...) and a Baby Jogger City Mini, both of which are uber fabulous. (Reasons at bottom if you are interested).

BUT, with recalcitrant toddler I need a double. I was thinking Phil and Teds, but have just found out that BabyJogger now do a new double called the City Select. Here:

Anyone have one? Or have heard anything about them? Would they go off road at all?

Reasons for loving BabyJogger city series after trying a million buggies:

Classic is lightweight for a serious off road buggy (tho WHY call it a CITY classic??),
Mini is really light too for a buggy with so many positions etc.

Baby can go in them from birth with a cocoon type thingy
Both fold into car soooo easily (can do Mini with one hand and baby in other)
Adjustable handle on Classic good for 6ft4 dh
Easily switchable swivel/straight wheel on Classic, both so manoeuvrable
Enormous hood - v v rarely need rain cover, never need sun cover
Can fit buggy board and also child sitting on sturdy front footrest

Only cons:
quite big in the car (but smaller than comparable off road buggies)
has overbalanced if child gets out and you have bags hanging off back (but think that is a trade-off with the lightweight factor - it has never overbalanced with a child in it, which is the important thing. Just remember to take your shopping bags off the buggy buddy before your child gets out!)

I have the BJCS and adore it. Definitely worth getting if it meets your criteria (twins or toddler+baby). We take our BJCS everywhere and find that, like the Phil & Teds, the big inflatable wheels make it easy to push through grass. Although, better than the P&T, it has 4 wheels so we, relatively easily, wheel it into buses and cabs. I am actually thinking of getting another BJCS for the toddler (we use the one we have, mainly, for the twins). And I would definitely get it over the iCandy double one, due to the bigger seat space.

Also, if anyone gets one and lives in a cold climate and doesn't mind spending ££ on a footmuff, I highly recommend the Fellhof Cortina sheepskin footmuff. Absolutely amazing. It fits on the BJCS seats no problem, and is longer than the other footmuffs (its approx 100cm to the std 90cm) so should hopefully last until the girls stop wanting to be in the pram. I got ours from Baa Baby and they were v nice and v v fast at sending it to us.

I am so out of the loop, just looked up what a BJCM is after seeing it everywhere on this topic and found out it is the City Mini... I bought mine four years ago and it still looks like new, despite regular use.

Long story cut short! I bought a Peach Blosdom, realised that the lower seat was small and only reclined. The same day preordered a City Select which arrived fresh off the ship last summer. I wrote a website showing the differences and issues with the Peach Blossom. I sold the Peach and loved the City Select to pieces. Gorgeous pushchair, fab features, a choice of seating position (but limited options depending on what you want ie a baby to recline), folds really flat so fab for travelling, huge shopping basket, good sized seats etc etc. We used it loads. Until one day when my children reached 2.5 and 9 months it started to pull on a slightly sloping pavement. Within three outings the pains in my arm at trying to keep the BJCS in line were too much for me to continue using it except in a flat shopping mall. Meanwhile I met the Prach Blossom designer by chance who said he had read my website, had listened and showed me the new Peach Blossom. I am very fortunate to be testing it at present and the changes are fabulous. No, it doesn't have the options of the BJCS but the seats are taller and almost as wide. But importantly I can push it, one handed along the stretch of pavement I struggled with the BJCS (and it's only a very mild slope towards the road - not a camber), with my children who are now another six months older and heavier. On paper the BJCS should have lasted until the end of our double days, but it didn't :(

BTW I am a huge Baby Jogger fan too :) I am just contemplating buying an Elite because the BJCM is so good, as is the Elite double. Have you seen the new BJCM GT? It may be worth looking at as a possible double option.

I've tried out a BJCS and it really wasn't that great for us. I tried it with my daughter, 8.5kg and niece, 10kg or similar. It didn't feel that great to steer, it was a bit heavy. But the deal breaker was that I could barely lift it up a step. I'm by no means weak, but my sister's not that strong so it would have been near impossible for her to lift up a kerb. And this was when the babies were about 10 months.
I think it works for people who don't need to go up steps/kerbs and who don't live in a hilly area or where the pavements have a camber.
We ended up getting a Britax B-Dual and it's fantastic. Amazing to push, takes rough terrain easily, you can turn the top seat to face you with the shorter child at the bottom or while they're sleeping, the storage is huge with access from every direction, the hoods are lovely and big and they have mesh panels so you can see the children while the hoods are up if you want to. Basically, I love it!
