i cant see over the top of the ABC with reclining toddler seat on, had oen when dd4 was small.

cityselect looks geat but again wide wheel footbase and wont be able to get it up the step

mutsy is too heavey

jane powertwin is a maybe, but again not sure if i can lift it up the step

pramsgalore · 05/11/2011 10:57

2 of mine had a 16 month age gap, if i had that gap again i would be looking at the peach blossom, britax b-dual and the vista with rumble seat and would get a side by side for long walks, i liked the jane powertwin but all mine have short legs

Tiggywunkle · 05/11/2011 10:58

Ok, so the pushchair is for the current baby and the new baby - not the older child on your back and the baby on your front which is what the photo implies you need it for?

How wide is your front door? When are you due?

misdee · 05/11/2011 11:00

the thing that worries me about the vista and jump seat and others with the child underneath is the view for the child and also the parent cant always see what the child is upto. i had issues with the skate jump seat as dd4 could escape from it and i could t see what she was going as it was underneath and at the front.

the peach blossom cant have the seats rear facing when in doubles mode, is also expensive and i have seen the issues first hand with the icandy range whilst i worked i na baby shop.

misdee · 05/11/2011 11:02

tiggy, the comp allows you to enter with two children, the blurb underneath explains its actually for swapping the three children about. bub is due in spring.

my front door is a whopping great big 72cm wide.

Tiggywunkle · 05/11/2011 11:03

The Duet is very heavy to lift. I could barely lift it into the car boot let alone up a step.
But the Duet has the same wheelbase as the City Select and B-Dual plus it's wider nearer the top, so how will it fit up the step when you had an Urban Detour and Nipper? Can you explain your situation a little better for us? I am confuseled!

Tiggywunkle · 05/11/2011 11:07

Ok, first of all you have chosen to have one of your children on your back where you can't see them. Personally I would prefer something like the B-Dual, City Select, Zoom etc where you can either have both parent facing, or have the little one facing you, or as with the B-Dual and Vista have excellent mesh hood sections where you can easily see both children. You certainly won't see either child in the Duet seats plus they are forward facing which you have just stated you want in a pushchair!!!! I am even more confused now!

misdee · 05/11/2011 11:08

i dont have a car.

i walk everywwhere

have a big dog

will have 6 children

i carry at least one child most days, usually end up with two on me by the end of the day if i dont take a buggy as its easier to get about. come spring i cant carry all three.

my front step i have to do a doiuble tilt up as i can only just sit a buggy on the step to open the front door, so i cant have one with a large space between front and back wheels as wont be able to get it up the step.

the urban double and double nipper wont fit through teh door. the duet at its widest point is the same as my mb urban single so will fit through.

am tired of waking sleeping children to get them in the house when i do use the buggy.

i cant even get a side by side like a maclaren out of the front door.

i get buggys up the step, by placing the front wheel up, then using my foot on the back axle to lever the back wheels up. then i can open the front door and wheel straigfht in. going up backwards doesnt work as easily.

Tiggywunkle · 05/11/2011 11:09

The Skate jump seat only had a 3 point harness, and something like a Houdini stop would give added protection to any good well fitting 5 point harness. The Skate jump seat has to be one of the worst add on seats for seeing the child and I don't blame any child for wanting to escape being so tucked away with no view!

misdee · 05/11/2011 11:11

i may choose to carry my child on my back and i may not be able to see her. but i can talk to her easily, can feel; her breathing, can sense every motion she makes as easily as seeing her in sight. she can talk to me about anything she see's and point out things of interest Smile its actually really lovely.

ideally i would use the duet with a carrycot for bubs, and with the hood back the visibility on Mb's means i could actually see the child in the second seat and be able to talk to them.

Tiggywunkle · 05/11/2011 11:16

Why is the Pear no good and the Peach doesn't suit? Have you tried them out? I am sure the Duet wheels are quite wide apart in the middle. I need to have a look. But I am sure pushchairs like the City Select have a much smaller wheelbase.

misdee · 05/11/2011 11:17

i have tried them. pear seats are small.

have been put off the peach by the amount of repairs coming in.

pramsgalore · 05/11/2011 11:18

you can see the second child in the vista seat through the hood mesh, it sounds like you need a single that converts to a double because of the size of chassis you need for your steps, so you are very limited, the b-dual, vista with rumble seat, would be worth a good look into. or vista with piggy back and carry one, or the vista could take 3 dc's all at once!!!!

regnamechange · 05/11/2011 11:19

What a shame that you feel that way about the Duet! I think its a great product and can see why misdee thinks it will fit her needs well.

I agree that the Skate jumpseat isn't the best add on seat though, however I don't 'get' this the child needs to be parent facing Hmm

Tiggywunkle · 05/11/2011 11:20

It's not that easy to see the child in the Duet seat, not least because of the hood. Even with the hood back, I had to run around to talk to my eldest. But I don't know many side by sides where it's easy to chat to your child.
I like carrying children too when I can but it hurts my back these days. :(

misdee · 05/11/2011 11:20

might have to get to tring to grooveystyle and have a proper look at the vista. i have only seen one locally, and it looks a good size, but was set up as a single with a newborn in it.

regnamechange · 05/11/2011 11:20

oh and the pear is huge and cumbersome and the peach seat set ups are in odd positions not keen on these either tbh

misdee · 05/11/2011 11:21

regnamechange, i like being able to see my children and/or feel them when carrying as i find it reassuring :) both for me and them.

regnamechange · 05/11/2011 11:22

"It's not that easy to see the child in the Duet seat, not least because of the hood. Even with the hood back, I had to run around to talk to my eldest. But I don't know many side by sides where it's easy to chat to your child. "

Thats a shame, I have not had these problems. I am however quite tall.

regnamechange · 05/11/2011 11:24

misdee I was in reference to prams but you are a brave lady carrying them like that, no way could I do that in heels! wink

regnamechange · 05/11/2011 11:24

Wink even!

Enjoy choosing Smile

Tiggywunkle · 05/11/2011 11:26

The Pear seats are really big! They would certainly get you until your 16 month old was two and a half. I have had two Peaches (at different times) and both have been great. I had more issues with the Duet - poor stitching, threads unravelling, severe pulling to the side my eldest was sat on, the eldest kicking the baby every time she moved her feet because they were too close together.
I do think your competition entry is misleading though. It implies you are having to carry the two children because it's the only option. Have you considered one of the new tandems coming next year?

misdee · 05/11/2011 11:27

haha i dont wear heels. i cant walk in heels without a child attached to me lol.

i am a shorty, so can always talk to the child in the urban and was assuming the duet would be a similar distance from me.

Tiggywunkle · 05/11/2011 11:28

I wish I was tall :)
I wouldn't advise the Vista for the two little ones TBH. The rumble seat is simply too upright for a child who naps. I think we will have similar issues with the +one, but we will see.

misdee · 05/11/2011 11:31

belive me, some days it does feel like its the only option. at least with carrying them both, when they fall alseep i can walk through my front door easily, pop them both down still asleep and breath a sigh of releif as they carry on dozing.
