the generation 1 handle is very low, even i higher it a tad. tiggy just get a donkey while you have the chance before dh changes his mind

Tiggywunkle · 04/11/2011 09:44

I was plotting it until a friend of mine said last night that she's got issues with hers, as have other Donkeys, and Bugaboo service aren't apparently being very supportive. But I don't know what the issues are - but but does put me off until I can find out more. But I believe one of the reasons the Donkey has been released so slowly was because problems were more or less to be expected in a new product and to minimise disruption if there was an issue. Apparently a lot of Chameleons (?) were released at it's launch which developed issues and it was a nightmare (so I was told). Bugaboo apparently didn't want the same again.

pramsgalore · 04/11/2011 09:50

tell me about it new pushchairs out and issues Hmm that what has put me off the icandy peach people having issues, the way my luck is going though i will buy a vista and it will have issues, i just don't seem to be having much luck at the moment with new pushchairs Sad

FriggsFlyingFalconFeathers · 04/11/2011 13:02

the vista is lovely prams..a bit of a work horse,i really trust it IYSWIM,
ive done both my longest walks with it now and its just fab,the piggyback is ace for a buggyboard and tucks up out the way nicely when i dont need it.

and the quality is much nicer than a bugaboo...

im so pleased i got it,Smile

FriggsFlyingFalconFeathers · 04/11/2011 13:05

i dont want another micralite,i found it a little tippy and DD could lean over and touch the ground Shock

uppababy g-luxe
Noa
BJCM....
-or maybe a nuna? whats the fold like on that?

which can i get cheapest?

pramsgalore · 04/11/2011 13:11

nunas are great nice neat very easy fold, but mine would not get out of the door, it just grounded on my door step and rocked there, it is very low to the ground, no basket as such, but you can hang a fair bit off the handles, it was super easy to push outside and not back heavy or tippy at all. i don't think the bj is that small when set up a bit wide, i do like the look of the noa and the g-luxe though.
i am def going to get a vista, just a bit sick of new pushchairs at the mo, my xari has a clicky frame on one side, not good considering how much it cost and that on top of the other one, i am having a bad week.

FriggsFlyingFalconFeathers · 04/11/2011 13:16

Sad thats such a shame prams....
i think the vista will restore you faith,it certainly has mineSmile

suzie38 · 04/11/2011 15:04

Only issue with my Donkey has been the split foam on the handle...Still got to put the replacement on...Plus it needs a big clean up before i list it...Mind you, you should see the state of my all black one, when DH brought it back from it's maiden voyage!!! Got the snow wheels on now along with the Trayvous which is fantastic!!!

OP posts:
Tiggywunkle · 04/11/2011 17:05

Noa is circa £120 on EBay or £150 in store new. BJCM is usually £200+

Tiggywunkle · 04/11/2011 20:53

We didn't get to the interesting pram shop today :( We did look in Mothercare (at the Chicco tandem with a teeny front seat recline even though there's room for a deeper one) and M&P (I didn't realise the Skate has been discontinued). The Mylo was next to the Xplory and it was interesting to see them both.
My baby got his first shoes today. He looks so grown up!
Where is everyone?!

suzie38 · 04/11/2011 21:07

Awww...How cute about the shoes!!! I fondly remember getting DD...I'm suffering serious buggy stress at the moment...Why can't i find the perfect one??? Thinking about keeping the Brio Go but i feel it's too big for the bus and inspite of someone saying it works in the snow, i'm sure it'll get trapped in the front wheels...But i have seen people on buses with those giant Graco ones and it's not that long if you flip the handle up or down.

OP posts:
pramsgalore · 04/11/2011 21:50

why won't you take the donkey or cameleon on the bus, i have taken my p&t's on the bus, i do have a small bus pushchair but i am not keen on it, and i have never been asked to fold on a bus, the bus driver will usually get the buggys to fold if needs be, but you will be surprised how many pushchairs can fit on in those gaps Grin
i loved getting mine their first shoes Smile

Tiggywunkle · 04/11/2011 22:02

There wasn't much choice of shoes but he's got cute Timberland looking kind of brown boots.
I think we finally need a proper family car :( The boots have lengthened DS's legs too much! It's that or a stop gap new car seat for a yearn like we had to with DD. DH wants to put DD on a booster seat but I want her in her proper car seat as long as I can. But a booster seat could solve our leg room issues...

TruthSweet · 04/11/2011 22:40

Isn't DD only just 3 Tiggy? I'd be very wary about putting a just 3y/o in a booster regardless of size as you have to trust them to be responsible for their own safety (they have to understand why they can't pick up a dropped toy/fiddle with the buckle/wriggle about).

In a harnessed seat you, the parent, are responsible for keeping them safe, in a booster the child has to be responsible.

Realistically age 5+ (or a very mature 4y/o) is a good age for a high back booster as they are a bit more sensible and, hopefully, have enough understanding to sit still for the duration of the whole car journey.

DD1 went into a high back booster full time after her 5th birthday after she had had some booster training sessions in grandma's car. She got full chapter and verse over why she has to sit still and not fidget (and I am amazed she doesn't fidget as she is the wrigglyest child ever) and I even showed her crash test videos so she knew what might happen if she messed about in the car.

Hope you don't mind me adding my tuppence worth!

Tiggywunkle · 04/11/2011 22:50

No, I agree totally. I come from a background where car seats weren't law, then they were, where most 3 year olds were on booster seats etc etc etc and it's all improving slowly. I have a perfectly good new car seat to last her until 12 or whenever. But we can't fit the children in lolol! Don't worry DD will not go on a booster seat. DH can get the use out of his bike!

suzie38 · 04/11/2011 23:39

I'd take the Cameleon on the bus as i've taken my old Frog, the last 2 winters when it snowed...I don't think the bus driver would like the look of the very wide handle, and think it was a twin...I dread to get into town, to not be able to get home again...It's a long journey to walk home!!! Plus i'd only be catching the bus to go to work so can't risk not being able to get there or back...The Cameleon isn't easy to manaovre with the snow tyres on but the Frog was...Anyway i'm not sure the Donkey would work in the snow as snow would be liable to get trapped and compacted in the front wheels, and it'd be a nightmare to drag on the back wheels like you're suppose to...I can see snow getting stuck in the Go's front wheels whereas with the snow wheels it can't get stuck...I've had a lady from Cezch interested in the Go but the last time i looked into DHL to Germany it involved me driving 20 miles to drop it off, along a road that often gets jammed up, and i can't drop it off with DD in my new car as there isn't room in the car for her plus the huge box it needs to be posted in.

OP posts:
suzie38 · 04/11/2011 23:41

Tiggy Why are your DS legs too long with boots on??? Take the boots off in the car plus it'll stop the seat getting too dirty...My pink Opal seat is stained now because i didn't take DD dirty shoes off!!!

OP posts:
Tiggywunkle · 04/11/2011 23:48

Oh gosh...if you knew how hard the boots were to get on in the first place, you wouldn't be removing them lightly!! We used to take DD's shoes off but these are hard! Even with his boots off we only gain a few cms but they are vital at present! Theres not much space between the seats whilst the children are still in proper car seats. We survived with DD but we wont with DS now forward facing in the car.

pramsgalore · 04/11/2011 23:48

i don't post my pushchairs, but they do take a long time to sell because of this. maybe you need a 3 wheeler for snow. i know we got alot of snow down here last year, but thats not the norm for down here, so i am not too concerned and last resort i will just use the sledge or just stay in.
How low is the vista handle when set at the lowest setting, i no longer really have a shopping pushchair and dp seems to not mind me getting another Shock Grin

suzie38 · 04/11/2011 23:59

The Vista handle was too high for me at 5'2"...And the Cameleon feels as high...Do you think generation 2 is higher than generation 1??? I've got the Indie for snow use but am selling it...That feels too long to get on the bus, and it's very heavy and bulky if i folded it...I just have such a fear of not being able to get somewhere...I'm self employed so feel the need to be able to get to work...I won't go if it's snowing heavily or forecast to but we had compact snow for over 2 weeks last December so couldn't stay away from work that long...It's hilly here so i panic too much to use the car, though after so long i had no choice but was terrified trying to get it back into our car park!!! Stressed just thinking about all the slipping and sliding i had to suffer!!!

OP posts:
suzie38 · 05/11/2011 00:06

I'd post it to the UK...But if a foreigner arranges the coleection via DHL i need to drop it off at the depot, they won't collect it from my house...But if i arrange the courier then it's a lot more expensive than if the seller arranges it...To post the Go overseas to Europe costs about £120!!! Whereas they can arrange it for less than half but i have to get it to the depot at the airport, along a road that can get jammed for hours as it's not a dual carriage way, and i won't do motorways unless i've no choice as i could get to the depot that way.

OP posts:
pramsgalore · 05/11/2011 00:07

i have never had a gen 2, but i can measure the handle on my gen 1 tomorrow on the lowest setting for you, just remind me if you get no measurements tomorrow. although i know it is set at 99cm and is only about 1 or 2 cm off the lowest setting, its not much i know that.
i don't drive and to be honest i don't want to learn, it would freak me out too much and i am prone to switching off and day dreaming so i think i would be dangerous [this has been spotted by friends so it def could be a problem] Blush

suzie38 · 05/11/2011 00:21

Oops!!! I've no problem driving but can't do snow or motorways...Though DH tricked me not long after i got my new car, we took a wrong turning leaving Crich so ended up having to go on the motorway a junction, just to annoy him i drove really slowly and refused to change lanes, as he's a nightmare on the motorway, going too fast and changing lanes too much...I'll remind you and measure mine as well...The Donkey handle goes very very low, so i have to raise that up...Brio Go goes low as well and i remembered today that pushes just as nicely as the Donkey, but with lots of bounce which i love...Maybe i could keep that for local use and just stick with my smaller pushchairs for putting in the car...Am definetely getting a new Nuna which would be perfect in the car...It's just that i liked a 'posh' buggy to use when i was in a certain area of Nottingham but then my posh buggies are too expensive to leave unattended in the library anyway so i can't always use them...Just wish i could make my mind up what i like/need.

OP posts:
suzie38 · 05/11/2011 00:26

I could sell the black Cameleon for what i bought it i guess, as i got a great discount off it for being the shop model, as they had no others in stock...But just bought the snow wheels and Trayvous but the snow wheels are not in stock in many places so might be quite easy to sell on eBay...Pushchairs are confusing me so much at the moment...If only the Donkey could slide in on itself, all problems would be mostly solved, though it would still need all 4 wheels removing to get it in the car!!!

OP posts:
pramsgalore · 05/11/2011 00:30

i don't leave my pushchair anywhere unattended, if i ever thought i was going somewhere where i would be forced to leave it, i would take my cheapy jive, i love pushing a nice posh pushchair that no one else seem to have, i loved my stokke because no one seemed to have them, although they are getting popular now mothercare are selling them.
