the macalren xlr has a tall roomy seat as well

Tiggywunkle · 01/11/2011 22:04

I was pondering whether an Urban Jungle would really take a 6 year old and whether anything was bigger? I know the Elite is huge. The Easywalker is big. Just pondering :)

pramsgalore · 01/11/2011 22:14

if the urban jungle is the same size as pre 2010 urban single then the answer is no, the seat back/hood height is not high enough

pramsgalore · 01/11/2011 22:15

which seems daft, due to the weight limit on them

MonkeyJuice · 01/11/2011 22:16

Easylife sport. There's a lovely new one on ebay...all black. Buyer to collect though

Tiggywunkle · 01/11/2011 22:27

Lol yes at the opposite end of the country [wunk]! I have bookmarked the website though! Thanks

aswellasyou · 02/11/2011 09:58

Have you all seen the pictures of the new all black Easywalker Sky and Sky Duo? I really like it. They're also looking for a tagline to go with it on their Facebook page if any of you can think of something.

Tiggywunkle · 02/11/2011 10:22

Yes, I was drooling over the Easywalker last night. It's really smart all in black. Do you think the footplate would scratch easily though? I wish I had had an Easywalker Duo for longer. It was the quality that impressed me though - it's the main reason I bought the Qtro. The Duo was so strong and sturdy with top quality thick canvas type material. The main thing I didn't like was the sun visor which fell down every time I closed the hood. But the Qtro has neat toggles inside the hood to hold the visor up when not being used. I don't know if the Sky single has these. The zip recline on the double was hard between the seats, but zip reclines always are hard to do. The Twinner Twist Duo has loops to hook your fingers through to pull which makes things easier. The Mimi recline is the worst zip recline. It's just hard!

TruthSweet · 02/11/2011 11:55

Everyone was right about the BuggyPod - it is vile. Why didn't I listen

DD3 dangles by her crotch all the time. It's too big to get in the lifts in the shops/aisles in the shops/doors/etc. The top connector is badly made so it's currently being held onto the pushchair with cable ties (courtesy of TIY's OH and my DH), the raincover doesn't fit in any which way no matter what I do, you can't adjust the straps to fit DD3 properly. If you go over uneven ground then the BuggyPod wheel doesn't touch the ground which means the Jazz EaSyS frame is taking all the weight (God I hope that doesn't break). I struggle to get up the hill to school as having the BuggyPod on makes the Jazz EaSyS so difficult and heavy to push in a way that having DD3 on the board doesn't.

Now not only people stop and stare at DD2 they stop and stare at the 'side-car' too. I feel so self-conscious when pushing it

On the plus side DD2 fits in it (by size not weight as we have the 15kg old version).

But we do have very very good news - DD2 is in remission from the arthritis - she just has Hypermobility Syndrome (HMS) now so we don't really need the full features of the Jazz EaSyS just somewhere for her to rest when she gets tired. Bad news is DD1 & DD3 are to be tested for HMS as they are both a bit too bendy.

I really need a double again as DD3 has had an asthma attack and needs to rest out of the wind/rain and in the warm but just don't know what to get. Wishing I hadn't got rid of the BJCM now as it's not so important that DD2's legs are supported.

TruthSweet · 02/11/2011 11:56

sorry for Homeric epic scaled post Blush

aswellasyou · 02/11/2011 12:44

TS, the first bit's crap (but you were told Wink), the second bit's fantastic news! And the third bit's not great either, but it's better to have a diagnosis.

Will your daughter stay in remission even if she's not going in the Jazz all the time to keep pressure off her joints? I don't know how her arthiritis is caused.

How much money do you have to spend on a new double?

All of you on here with hypermobile children should get together and compare notes!

MonkeyJuice · 02/11/2011 13:43

I ought to get Ds properly tested for hypermobility. There isnt a single session from pre school where he hasn't come home with a note from the accident book from falling over. Last session he exceeded himself with two notes!
Eldest child who is diagnosed still falls over more frequently than most kids her age too. Including falling heavily and skinning her knee, wrist , hand and elbow while trick or treating. Although Tbh I think her dress was a bit at fault too there.
TS so pleased your Dd has had some improvement with the athritis. Also sorry your buggypod is not a success.
Where's Friggfrigg today? Too busy with her new Vista? Hope she loves it and doesn't have a weep over the size. It does fold neatly in its favour.

Tiggywunkle · 02/11/2011 13:44

Hugs re not listening. Don't worry we all do it! I would love a review (tweak of above?) for BB because I get asked all the time about Buggypods but their reputation goes before them...
I never considered that people would stop and stare more...that's not good :(
That's good news re DD2. I hope DD1 & DD3 are ok.
There's a very nice all black Easywalker Duo! I have a few options here to go...
What are you thinking of getting?

TruthSweet · 02/11/2011 14:55

Thanks for the commiserations/congratulations everyone. Glad no-one has given me a smack upside the head (though God only knows I need one!) I'll write a review for you Tiggy - can't say it will be very complimentary unfortunately. Customer service is fab from Revello though.

DH has said I can get an Easylife double. Has anyone had one? They look massive especially the leg length so I'm hoping it will do (I guess even DD1 could cadge a ride if needed!)

Please let this be the answer...as I've found one in our budget too!

Tiggywunkle · 02/11/2011 15:27

That's great :) Thanks!
I was looking at the Easylifes last night. They look good and like you say should suit an older child. Did you try the BJ Elite? That's got big seats. The Easywalker was good too - it's better really than the Elite because the footrest is longer but also flat. It folds slightly smaller too.

Tiggywunkle · 02/11/2011 15:30

My issues with the Easylife are the fixed handlebar - do you know what height it is? Plus is the bumper bar removable. I wouldn't like to lift a heavy child over it. It looks fixed in the photos I have seen.

MonkeyJuice · 02/11/2011 16:24

The easylife bumper bar removes easily. Pushbutton each side. Not gate opening.
From memory handlebar height is over a meter...I'm 5'7 and it was comfy. Easylife sport is a light push and extremely manouverable. A nicer push than the swift. Similar to elite in feel. Very nippy. Excellent highly durable components. Virtually bomb proof! Newer model has excellent strap recline.
The rucksack can be fastened onto the footrest if you have a wee baby in the seat.
The silver frame is super sparkly. It twinkles in a glittery way.

You can also strap the rucksack behind the seat and it poppers on at the bottom of the rucksack too. So looks like a rear seat pocket.

If you get an older one you can buy new cover sets relatively cheaply from nz.

The hardest thing is folding the easylife sport. It's not an easy fold. Although you're fine once you've learnt it.

MonkeyJuice · 02/11/2011 16:28

From memory the easylife weight limit is 45kg. You could fit a 8y old in there...or older!

TruthSweet · 02/11/2011 16:51

I had a look on the SecondChildhood website and it has the handle height at 103cm which is a reasonable height for me. If I get it I'll do a review for you Wink and I have submitted a review for the BuggyPod.

Tiggywunkle · 02/11/2011 16:56

I keep going back and looking at Easylifes but we don't need one yet. There's plenty of under 20kgs pushchairs to play with first!
The Air Buggy Mimi was a lovely push. There hasn't been another side by side that with one hand I could spin the children round on the spot 360 degrees - and it was on our thick gravel! It went straight up and over our tricky spaced door lintels. It takes one car seat too. I am pretty impressed although some of the spec could be better eg hoods and zip reclines. Great for two older toddlers though.

Tiggywunkle · 02/11/2011 16:57

Thank you :o I am going to look at Swifts and UJs later this week to talk myself out of one!

TruthSweet · 02/11/2011 17:27

Christ - with a 45kg weight limit I could almost have DD1, DD2 & DD3 on one side and the other empty!

Tiggywunkle · 02/11/2011 17:36

....and OH could push you in the other side Wink

TruthSweet · 02/11/2011 17:45

Ha ha I'd have to lose a leg or two to squeak in to the seat or perhaps have extensive lipo....

FriggsFlyingFalconFeathers · 02/11/2011 18:45

HELLO!

yes, monkeys,i have been drooling over my vista all dayGrin

i think im in lurve ,you were all right as always it's really....me,and such good quailty!
its like a meld of all my favourite buggys, loads of little features that i love...

its a bit britax vigour - seat recline, seat shape(but vista is bigger) leg rest.
a bit britax b-dual - big basket, break is the same
a bit bugaboo - raincover with flap panel, extending handle.
a bit verve - similar wheels, with no low bar to kick.
a bit BJCM -the magnetic hood flaps

the suspension isnt 'bouncy' ,and it is a tad bigger than i would have liked, but the hood is so thick and will keep winter weather out very easily, its very practical, very beautiful, lovely to see DS RF,plus all the features above, its as close to perfect as i could get, thanks guys Grin

i can wait for the piggyback to arrive now!!!
