P&T double with a big baby - he's squashed!

DD is almost three and so sits on top, DS is 10 weeks and so underneath in the main pushchair seat reclined. I am struggling to get him in and out unless I take the seat off the top and put him in that way, but also he's very long and already about 15lbs and in 3-6m clothes, and his legs and the buggy snuggle seem really squashed under the top seat. I have to try and post him in from the back and then pull his feet through from the front and arrange the buggy snuggle that way! I have also been zipping up the sides so he can lie on the incline which also allows more access to basket underneath but this doesn't help.

My double seat is not a reclining one, and I can't see me being able to put him in that for ages. We walk a lot so DD can't be expected to walk everywhere and needs her seat. How does everyone else manage?

I love the P&T and am pleased we bought it as 1st pushchair and it should last both kids but am very disappointed in how tricky it is with this arrangement, will be much better when I can put the seat underneath when he's old enough.

i have always used the caccon and put lo in this and then slotted in feet first, but none of mine have been as big as yours and have fitted until around 5/6 months, all i can suggest is put back seat on the back and see how far you can get front seat reclined, with dd sat in the back, put baby in front seat, on all my p&t's i have always put oldest in the back seat, just becarefull that dd gets out before you take the baby out or failing this get a buggy board for the next couple of months, not ideal though, what model do you have, as the new explorer will take the hammerhead seat which does have a slight recline, i would try the first option though first, as long as the front seat is not touching her, she will be fine, not ideal, but its only for a short time.

I gave the exact same problem. DD is 10 weeks. 18 bs and reaaaaaly long. It seems as if the top seat doesn't give enough room for her legs to go underneath it. There's no way she!d fit in the cocoon. Tried her at about 2 weeks and she was already too big

Am contemplating putting the toddler deat underneath and putting her sitting up a bit. She's got good head control and is never in the pushchair for long

I keep reading the instructions to see if I'm missing something. Surelybthe little babies legs should be able to fit underneath the top seat without being squashed?

hmm, one of the few models i have not had, makes me think the seat is now a bit shorter, try reclining front seat with seat on back and see how far you can get away with reclining it for baby, leaving just enough room for dc in back seat, or the hammerhead double seat fits the new explorer so i've been told and this has a zip recline, i think its a zip recline, either way it reclines.

i would try the first option its cheaper

I put DD2 in the back seat at 4 months with a headhugger and as much support as I could manage. I would have put DD1 in the back but she was too big!

Wow, I thought I was alone but am not!

Good suggestion re swapping positions, I'll try that as he also has decent head control and dd is not huge so might manage underneath. Maybe she'll walk more as well... She loves her seat on top so never wants to walk!

Ta for all ideas, does seem a slight design flaw on an otherwise fab pushchair.

Trial run with baby in main seat with zips undone but clips clipped at back, he was fine and straps held him in place well... His back seems straight. Dd loved her little space underneath even though her head almost touches his seat!
