Has anyone managed to solve the problem with the Babystyle Oyster's front wheels buckling?

I've had mine for about 8 months and this has been happening more and more over the last few weeks.

Has anyone worked out what to do to solve the problems. I had considered buying new front wheels but it seems a bit annoying to have to do that when I've not used it that much, and it might not even work.

Is there any advice?

I have emailed babystyle and am waiting for a reply.

At less than a year old it should still be under guarantee so take it back to your retailer and get them to replace wheels via Babystyle. Like I said in another post, had mine 18 months and this wheels issue is mews to me, not had any probs at all and love my Oyster (tho looking to sell now but that another issue).

In your manual you will find a section on maintaining your Oyster chassis which will suggest that you remove your front wheels periodically and clean them this will help to keep them swivelling, if however you still have concerns about your chassis then under your warranty agreement (6months) you will need to return it to the retailer that you purchased it from as they are responsible for your aftercare service, the retailer will contact Babystyle on your behalf.

As I'd said it's the wheels buckling and that I bought it in January so not a very helpful response really!

Babystyle need to get their heads round the fact that buggies are intended to be used longer than six months. By law the product needs to be durable, and safe to use.
Consumer rights extend long after their warranty.
It can sometimes be helpful to contact trading standards and know your rights before going back to the store you bought it from. Your more likely to get a proper response and not get fogged off that way.

is it that the wheels sort of get stuck underneath the frame, when you're going down something. If it is, it's a design fault, the oyster doesn't have springs it has some weird suspension design. I used to get stuck going down curbs.

Yes that's it but it's getting worse. Did you find any way of making it better?

It's as though the suspension is too soft...They work in the same way as a Bee, but after so much pressure the Bee wheel stops bending, whereas the Oyster carries on too much...If there are no springs in there, then maybe they should redesign them, to include some.

Hi Saoirse. Just saw this thread.. Mine does the same thing. It's the only thing that I don't like about it... (I've cracked my shins a few times when I been walking fast and forgotten to lift the front while going down a small kurb ). Have you tried using it with your DD facing outwards? I still have DS facing me atm but I wonder if the weight distribution might make it less of a problem when I turn him around [hopeful emoticon]

i would take it back to the shop you bought it from and tell them it is unfit for purpose and if they fob you off, tell them you will be contacting trading standards if they are not prepared to sort it out pronto, i have contacted trading standards before they are very helpful and will help you, but they will tell you to contact the retailer first to give them a chance, baby style are correct you have to go through the retailer as its them who have to deal with issues, a retailer is responsible for what they sell and it is down to them to sort out problems.

Hi mapletrees! I do usually have her facing me but sometimes facing forwards. I'll have to test it out to see whether that's any better because I haven't noticed it being better.

I only had a 6 month warranty so I didn't think there was anything the shop could do.

yes, you need to contact trading standards and they will tell you, ie a laptop comes with 12 months warrenty, but it should last 18 months as a reasonable length of time, you have consumer rights and things need to last a reasonable lenght of time, 8 months is not a reasonable length of time. ignore the 6 months warrenty.

My mothercare my4 front wheels were locking up and I called mothercare and was told I would have to send it off for 4 weeks . I asked if it was a common fault and could they advise a resolution but they aWere very stropy. My husband ( a bit of a clever dick ;) decided he would fix it , he said he sprayed silicone spray into the gap and now the wheels are absolutely fine. God knows why mothercare wouldn't have suggested that as it has obviously happened before. Not sure if that helps but mine was a nightmare and wouldn't steer and almost tipped up on several occasions . I might add it is only 8 weeks old ..shame on mothercare. !!
