Bjcm carrycot raincover

Hi all. I have the bjcm hard carrycot and am thinking if letting a carrycot raincover from pushchairs.co.uk

Has anyone else used one of these? Worth the £15?

Ive had the bjcm for ages and never needed a raincover but thinking a newborn may need one.

Anyone know if the standard raincover would do the trick too? Planning on using carrycot without pushchair fabrics on car seat adaptors.

Thanks

Why don't you give Kooltrade a call tomorrow and ask of their standard BJCM cover will cover the carrycot too? The City Select does both carrycot and seat unit but they do use the same chassis. My gut feeling is the usual BJCM would do the job but probably won't fit correctly because the BJCM tapers to the feet. But Kooltrade make the raincovers for the UK BJs so they would know :)

That's a good idea - thank you!

Yup...That ID was years out of date and the 'wunk' was a tribute to Frigg

Ah I thought so!

Phoned kooltrade. They didn't really feel
Me with confidence to be honest. Said new raincover coming out end of sept that would be a less tight fit. Couldn't say whether it was suitable with bassinette.

Hmm I will try and find out for you.

Thanks tiggywunkle. Really don't want to have to buy two raincovers!

hiya, i have the carry cot. tbh i don't think you need a rain cover for it. the gap left after putting the hood up and cover over the body is fairly minimal. also if you get the rain cover to fit the bjcm it will go over the carrycot too. admittedly it doesn't look beautiful but you'll be dashing home to escape the rain so no-one will notice!

btw my baby was 8lb3 at birth, is mow 18 weeks and 14lb15oz and doesn't fit in the carrycot. also the suspension isn't great. he jiggled about tremendously. i squished him in with blankets!

Thank you but I'm planning on using without the other fabrics so it looks more like a pram. Plus am using the plug in adaptors on mounting bracket so it doesn't fit very well with fabric in place.

Think I will wait and try and source a new style raincover see if that's sufficient.

Just a quick update. Phoned kooltrade again. Said new raincovers now end of nov. Very annoying as baby due any day.

When asked again if it would fit hard carrycot I got an unconfident yes response.

Also not sure how I will know that raincover I order is new stock or old stock being shifted.

I got the answer that the current raincover will fit too. Maybe studying the photo on the old one might help? Boots had a raincover photo on their Elite listing last night? Or give Kooltrade a ring back to ask in a few weeks?

bellastella · 08/11/2011 22:43

I think my earlier message wasn't clear enough. I used the carrycot placed on the car seat adaptors without the pushchair fabric...and the pushchair raincover placed over it was fine. As I said, not a perfect fit but perfectly dry.
hth

Bellastella thank you for clarifying. Did you have the compact or hard bodied bassinet one? Mine the bassinet.

Think I will have to bite the bullet and order it as can't wait another 3 weeks plus for one- oh to have hassle of whether it's new or old model.
We used carrycot in light drizzle yesterday- it was fine but if real hard rain and wind would like the raincover.

i had the hard bodied one. i thought it was quite good. i felt that overall it was a bit small so didn't last long, the shape of the internal mattress is like a number 8 ie indented in the middle, a bit odd really!

even though i'm on dc3, it was my first brand new pushchair. i definitely bought it because of the hype on here and whilst i still like it and think it will be the only one i have for this baby, i do wonder if there is something more perfect out there...
