Buggy for top floor flat...

anyone got any recommendations....have to get up 3 flights of stairs so was thinking the sort of buggy where the carrycot lifts off, then i can leave the base at the bottom and just carry the baby up in the carrycot?
Any suggestions welcome please....
I was thinking maybe the micralite toro so far?

micralites are really great, will your pushchair be safe left down stairs and what is your budget, do you need it for shopping, off road etc

Anything that is light and has big bouncy back wheels.
I currently have a Toro, fab lightweight buggy.
Also have an iCandy apple which is great as well, heavier but better for big walks and a good basket for shopping.
Carrycot was v easy to lift off and carry up stairs.
Micralites are brill, have had fastfold as well on previous child, but they are no good whatsoever for shopping.
Totally depends what your lifestyle etc is like.

Thanks for that. Yes it will be safe left downstairs and i was thinking about £400. We live in London so wont really need it for off road....i'll need it for shopping i guess...i did think it looked a bit bulky but like everything else about it....

I know you want a buggy, but I've found I'm using a sling instead and 2 buggies & pram are doing very little

Don't worry about pushchair's bulk in the beginning. You won't find a buggy that will do everything and like most of us will probably have to get a Maclaren in the end when baby is a toddler

micralite is no good for shopping, a tad more but what about an uppababy vista, i have seen them for 475 on ebay new, 550 in shops on the internet, they come with carrycot included and raincover which both come as extras with many other models so it is a good price, they have huge basket and when i saw one in kiddicare are not that big compared to lots of others.

It may be a tad bigger than you want, but I have finally settled on a Babystyle Oyster as the Ideal One and live up a flight of stairs. I have a toddler, do 4 miles daily on school runs with my eldest, and do most of food shopping en-route, so it ticks all the boxes... Big enough for toddler, can lift him out in the seat to carry upstairs if asleep, the wheels deal very well with the miles and the uneven pavements, decent sized basket for groceries underneath. And it all folds down pretty well, small enough to tuck in under the stairs and fits in a small car boot. Hope that helps!

Just thinking ahead, will the pushchair be safe as well once the seat unit is on. I am assuming so. What will you do when your baby gets to 6-15 ish months and may not be walking? Will you sling them upstairs? Three flights is a long long way to carry a 20lb+ baby...I wouldn't consider it without support eg a sling. I am wondering if pushchair with a car seat option may be useful for when you baby gets older because although a car seat will be heavy, at least you can put the baby down en route. Also carrycots can be difficult to carry - that may sound weird - but when you go to try some out, put some weight in the position where you ave the baby ie weighted nearer the head end. A lot of carrycots will tilt head down, and going upstairs you baby could end up on its head quite literally! Carrycots with a bar in the hood for carrying are often flatter when carried. Carrycots do differ so I do recommend trying some out.

Yes I was thinking of the car seat option...do people just use that to push the baby around in rather than getting a carrycot? Sorry im really clueless with all this. And if all goes to plan we will be living in a nice house with no stairs to climb up by the time the baby is about 6-9 months!

You shouldn't for more than about two hours. It's not ideal but it's always an option. In your situation, I would do it. I purposely keep my non walking 13 month old in a baby car seat to make handling him / putting him down easier.
