So 1st child for me and DW, she has choosen the Obaby Monty travel system but we have a question. When using it flat for newborn - should we put a mattress in it? Looks a bit uncomfy without and not sure if we are meant to strap Jr in there or put a mattress in and let him roll around?

Honestly, I think it could be dangerous to put a mattress in a stroller. Yes you are meant to put the baby onto the seat unit from birth, or use the car seat. But there are ways of making your baby more comfortable by using a liner, cosytoes / footmuff or a strap in baby cocoon like a Bugaboo one or a Snunkie one. They will almost certainly have a coat on or snowsuit too in winter. Just make sure whatever you choose, you do the straps up tightly. 2 fingers is all you should be able to fit under the straps.
