Can anyone tell me the deal with Mountain Buggy at the moment. Various people have recommended their Mountain Buggy Swift to me but after doing some research it appears Mountain Buggy have gone into receivership......

Is this right? Can I / should I still try to buy one?

Is that so? Well, that might explain why they never got back to me when I requested a repair under warranty!
Thankfully, having bought online with boots I was able to return it for a full refund despite having had it for over 28 days.
It was a shame I couldn't have had it repaired though, as the pram was excellent but customer service severely lacking in my experience!

Where did you hear/read that they'd gone into receivership and when?

Very strange since they've got 2 new pushchairs being released recently.

Hmm...I would be surprised too given their lates pushchair arrived last week and I had contact with their PR on Friday. They did merge with Phil&Teds a few years back and both seem to be thriving TBH!! They have another new pushchair out shortly.

They have a thriving Facebook page too if you want to ask direct if you still have any doubts :)

ooooh my mistake then, I hope! I was just trying to find reviews online about them and came across some threads talking about them going bust.......

Can anyone point me in the right direction of where I could get a swift in the UK as on their website they have run out of stock?

Anywhere in the real world I can have a "test drive" too?

I think it's a case of doing a Google for your local MB stockist or see if Boots still have any.

Hmmm..Interesting, I have a swift on order and have been told today of yet another delay in its arrival, now not expected till the week of 5th Sept...losing my patience rapidly. I would love to know the real reason a large company like MB can't ship their orders.

Finn77, I would cancel the MB Swift and get a nipper 360 instead. They are even nicer and lighter to push.
I had to return my swift to Boots for a refund in the end as the. Secondary locking mechanism spring somehow unwound itself. A relatively small thing to go wrong, but it would have been unsafe to use with this lock broken.
I went online to report the fault under warranty. I got an auto receipt saying someone would contact me. To date after over a month, they have not. I even contacted them about it again. Again I got the auto receipt, but nobody has been in touch to say what they can do to fix it.
I've since contacted boots who have refunded in full.
As far as MB are concerned I'm still waiting for their response. Over a month. With a buggy unsafe to use. No courtesey buggy. Not even an apology.

Strangely enough I had originally wanted the new nipper. It is however distributed by the same people as mountain buggy and also has been subject to release delays..now quoting end of august / early september. Not entirely convinced as to whether these dates will happen. At this rate the baby will have to be transported on a basket in front of my bike!

I have the older style nipper, which I love. I'm not sure I would like the handlebar on the new model as its adjustable...I know that sounds a bit wierd, but the non adjustable handlebar is v strong and ridgid, so I can easily bump it up or down flights of stairs fully loaded (at train stations primarily). It also has shock absorbers over the rear wheels.
Another thing Ds likes is that the seat flexes forwards with him when he leans forwards.

I don't think that's right as they were sold a couple of years ago and are owned by Phil and Ted and Out and About (all the same company) so if MB goes then so does Phil and Teds.

They have had problems getting passed the safety tests for the uk with the Duet for the one handed fold mechanism - passed in other countries just not here, so they had tyo keep hold of them to do a slight redesign at the last minute. I imagine they are delaying the Nipper so the Duet could be released first.

Finn are you after the MB Duet (double swift)? They are in the country but some were left out of the container and should be arriving today or tommorrow - according to what MB told my local shop. We're hoping to have a go before buying this weekend as twins are due in 2 weeks!

Sorry, some people call the duet a swift as it's the same but doubled.

My local shop has been promised a duet and my name is on it so should be okay but we have a second hand buggy that will tide us over, plus after cs for the twins I doubt I'll be rushing out anywhere. If not, I'll get the Nipper (not the 2011 model). I played with a Swift in black on Saturday as the fold is the same. They had two in stock but don't know about colours.

I have been told that the Duet is not based on the Swift (despite being originally told so) but they do both have MB features and the same size wheels.

I've been told by 3 outlets that it is based on the swift, recline is the same and stlye-wise, plus the fold is the same. Anyway we're not buying it unless we get to try it first. If not, we'll get the Nipper.
