Bugaboo advice needed!

Hi
My daughter is having her first DC in Jan and we are planning to buy a pushchair for her. I am totally out of the loop as it's so long since I had mine and would welcome some advice. I know she would love a Bugaboo and I've been looking at the Cameleon. Is there anything to watch out for? I've picked up some issues with tyres on the first type, but is there anything else? I'm not sure how heavy it is, how easy to fold down etc. The other option is likely to be an Icandy. We're off to John Lewis tomorrow for some advice, but some thoughts from anyone out there on how they are in real life would be great

I love mine

It's light weight comfy for baby in both modes really is the best buggy ive owned and totally worth the price tag

I started with a quinny for ds2 but sold it after 4 weeks in favour of the bugaboo it was heavy and difficult to use in comparison ds2 is now 5 months and im still in love which is rare as I had every buggy going 5 years ago for ds1!

Honestly, I would go with the bugaboo, I've had seven pushchairs and I love my bug the best. I have the Frog which was the first bugaboo, but I LOVE it. It's not the most compact when folded but it weighs very little, which is important for me as I have a really bad back and hip issues, it pushes like a dream and my baby adores that he can see me in it but look out when he's in the mood for seeing the world.

I would highly recommend it and your very nice to consider buying one for your Daughter!

I love it, really unbeatable quality I think, great to push (can push one-handed, easy to steer in shops etc) and comfy for the baby.

Bear in mind it doesn't fold down in once piece, you need to take the top and wheels bit apart but it's really simple to do and the fact that it's in two pieces makes each bit light to take in and out of car boots.

The only downside I can think of is that the storage bag/basket bit underneath is a bit difficult to access when it's in pram/lie flat mode. That wasn't a big drawback for me but worth bearing in mind.

Depending on which John Lewis you're going to - I would ask to see the Mima Kobi or the Mima Xari - I'm not a fan of the Bugaboo Cameleon (after I bought one new In January and by May it needed both the seat unit and basket replacing as the stitching was coming undone in the seat - and the basket fabric had frayed and fallen apart resulting in a large hole!!! Bugaboo were fab and replaced straight away (well - within 10 days as the parts came via courier from abroad)..but I was not impressed with the lack of durability.
If you get a bugaboo do keep the receipt safe and register for the warranty!

The Mima Kobi or Xari's are new - and John Lewis are the only place that sell them - they are utterly divine - very innovative and stylish and apparently an absolute dream to push!

An alternative available at some pram shops (not sure if John Lewis sell this brand as it's one of Bugaboos big rivals is) - the Uppababy Vista. I have one of those now and much prefer it to the Bugaboo as it's easier to use - can fold in one piece (once you get to using the toddler seat stage), has more headroom for a growing toddler than the bugaboo - has and easier to open gate style bumperbar (the bugaboo bumper is a tight fit and needs two hands to remove!), it has a one handed recline system (the bugaboo needs two hands to recline the seat) and the pushchair seat and pram top sit higher up - the bugaboo ones are close to the ground (near traffic fumes/ dogs/ shopping bags).
The basket beneath the vista is really really big and sturdy - no problems there - I can regulary carry 4 carrier bags of groceries home beneath the pram - which is fab. If a second child is planned later on you will be able to clip on a "rumble seat" to the vista - you cannot do this with a bugaboo cameleon!

Hi thanks so much to everyone how replied. I adore the Mima, so thanks MonkeysPunk for the link - I'll have a look in John Lewis. I can't believe how lovely pushchairs are now. I also wish I hadn't allowed my adorable DS to dismantle my old-fashioned Silver Cross pram and used the chassis as a go-kart! x

Hi, i have a mima xari and love it, baskets are not huge but are still good, it glides along with ease, it reclines easily, the hood is fab, it is a very well made, sturdy pram and a real head turner, jl will be stocking the silver one soon, if they have not already. I don't like bugaboos, they are not that well made and i had problems with both my cam and bee, i am always hearing of people with problems, yes bugaboo will sort it out but only while its under warrenty, then they don't want to know and everyone has one.

The link to the Orbit Baby G2 won't ship to the UK...I'm permantly logged into Amazon.com and get an immediate 'can't ship to that address' message in red.

Ah, sorry about that then. Is thought as it was sold by amazon themselves, not a sub seller that it would ship to the UK.
