Baby Jogger City Mini Double

Anyone got one? What do you think of it?

From what i can see, it's looking like it's possibly the pram for us.

DS2 will be 25 months when this one comes along, but isn't walking yet due to problems with his hips, legs and ankles, and i'm not sure how mobile he's going to be by then.

I really liked the look of the Obaby Zynergy zoom, but don't have room in the car to store all the seperate parts, and the BJCM looks that it folds down nice and compact, which would be ideal.

Anyone have one with a carrycot? Ideally i'd like baby to be able to lie as flat as possible, so carrycot seems ideal, but is it worth it? How flat do the seats lie?

It's a good side by side pushchair. Lots of good features eg easy recline, large hoods, net storage on the back of the seats etc. The negatives are that it is night impossible to put much more than a tin of beans through the space into the basket anywhere and it's as bad extracting things. I sold mine after one annoying shopping trip where I had to post every item individually through the gaps. The handle is high and fixed and although the single was fine, the double hurt my back. Finally the wheels are a bit shopping trolley like ie the pushchair slides one way and then the other as you walk but thats minor. The fold is fantastic. The seats are suitable from birth or you can add the carrycot. Just make sure you buy a 2011 version. If you like the Zoom have you looked at the Baby Jogger City Select? Whilst it is bitty with the separate parts, the fold is fantastic.

Tiggy - if you pull on the back elastic down on the basket you can get fairly big things in or a lightly loaded shopping bag. Nothing like my Emmaljunga of course but it's not so bad.

It can also take a huge amount on the handle bars so for me basket storage isn't a deal breaker. I have a reusable bag with a potty/changes of clothes/inhalers on one side, a change bag on the middle strut, the rain cover in one of the back pockets, a big blanket in the other, a bagabottle pouch on the handle bar for purse/suncream/sunnies/keys and a sunshine kids drinks holder on one side for 4 drinks. I pack for an expedition just going to the supermarket Grin

Deemented - I use mine for my average sized DD3 (83cm/10.5kg) and for my big 3.8y DD2 (105cm/16.5kg) who has arthritis and hypermobile joints so it trippy and tires easily. DD1 has also cadged a lift and she is 5.5y & 117cm/20kg and still has room before her head hits the hood though the leg room for her is a little on the small side.

The recline is very flat though a lot of the pictures of the recline looks quite high as the weather shield at the back is elasticated and pulls up an empty seat. With a child/baby in it, it's much flatter.

Having said that, I'd love a BJ City Select as I'd love my children to face me but I need the high head room of a BJCM Sad.

I tried everything to get shopping into mine (it was a 2011 version). I could just about squidge a small bag through the side opening but round the back was totally obstructed by the bar...and then you are supposed to put the four safety poppers onto the back rail as well leaving you with zero way at the back to get anything in and out. Like you say the BJCM is solid enough to hang things off the handlebar but when you have a huge basket, it would be nice to be able to use it!!

My SIL has one. she's used it from birth with her twins. It does lie very flat and is fairly nice to push but you cant get it through doors or checkouts or in a lot of shops. The basket on the bottom is a bit daft as PP have said.

Thanks both - maybe i won't need a carrycot afterall then? Though i would love to be able to face them both, but i guess i'll have to compromise on that one.

I have a 2010 version and if I pull the elastic down under the cross bar I can slip a bag in or pack of nappies, 6 pints of milk, etc, etc. Perhaps the 2011 model is different in that respect?

Hmmm... from what i read it said that it'd fot through most doors. Is that not the case then?

It's one of the narrowest side by sides (with the obvious exception of the Duet!) but it is still wider than a single pram. For example in a number of local supermarkets I have to go through the wide checkout not one of the ordinary ones and it doesn't fit through my narrow front door (not a problem for me as I have patio doors at the rear to go through) but if you don't have alternative access to your house measure very carefully the access.

Mind you when DD2 started to get arthritis I borrowed a Urban Detour double that got stuck in the patio door and tipped over so my 5y old DD1 had to hold it up whilst I rushed round to the back door to free DD2 & DD3 from the pram! The Urban Detour double was 86cm wide Shock Shock

Would i get it on the bus, do you think?

I did have a First Wheels City Twin, but had to sell it as DD outgrew it and couldn't get it on the bus!

It's a fair bit narrower than a First Wheels City Twin (I had one for DD1 & DD2 when DD2 was born but we only used it for a few weeks with DD3 as DD2 wanted to walk so sold it). I got the FWCT on most of my local bus routes (they have different models for different routes Confused) but can get the BJCM on all of them.

It has much bigger seats (height wise that is) than the FWCT so it will last a lot longer Smile

I am pretty sure you would but it depends on your bus! There's nothing wider than a First Wheels City Twin after all!!!!
I couldn't get the BJCM into one of our local shops, and am getting a Duet because of that reason. But it is a strange shop with split doors and narrow checkouts. But in reality the BJCM should easily fit through a standard doorway.
You dont need a carrycot, but I think a newborn looks a bit exposed just on the seat, but there is no reason why you can't put a newborn on the flat seat.

A Urban Detour double is 8cm wider than a FWCT. They are beasts and impossible to push even with the air tyres.

BJCMD is 75cm, FWCT is 78cm, UBD is 86cm....

I have one too, not selling for another year I'm afraid. Just wanted to say about using it with a newborn that I used a bugaboo bee cocoon on cold days and a headhugger thing on hot days as it seemed a bit hard and unsupportive putting her straight into the pushchair.

It does go through most doors IME.

i had one,lOVED IT it
didnt fit through our front door thoughSad so i sold it....
anyhooo,it's a brill buggy,i put a p&t cocoon in for the NB and he looked super snugglySmile
