pram / pushchair for bad back

Hi I have a chronic back condition, first time mum to be

am trying to research best prams / pushchair

stokke explory seems the obvious choice, though very expensive yikes!!

Just wondered if there were any other thoughts eg from experience

i have a bad back [2 sliped disks] and i found the height of the stokke great, but if you put too much weight in the basket it can be heavy up kerbs i also walk everywhere so am not lifting it in and out of cars which i would struggle with, but you do need a pushchair that is high up, so these are the ones i know are high starting with the most expensive to give you an idea.

uppababy vista £550 including carrycot

but if you are lifting it in and out of a car i don't know as i don't really check how heavy prams are because as i said i walk everywhere

The Baby Jogger City Mini. It's light, easy to push, folds really simply by simply holding the handle in the centre of the seat and it collapses ie no bending or pulling apart from to grasp the handle. Easy one handed recline and simply use the fold handle to swing it into a car boot. There is a choice of carrycots and it takes a car seat. I would recommend the four wheel version though because especially if you use the car seat, three wheels is more unstable.

Maclaren Techno XT or XLR. Light, pushes easily and really high handles. XLR has a carry cot, so good fron the start.

yes height seems important to me as bending down low to put child in and take it out would be painful - 1 slipped disc plus arthritis in the back!

in terms of three high ones recommended - mima xari, stokke xplory and uppababy vista does anyone know which would be lighter as I would want to be putting into car boot too if poss

Chassis 8.3 kg

Mima Kobi:
Chassis with seat:15.2 kg
Chassis with carrycot: 13.5 kg
Chassis only: 11 kg

Uppababy Vista:
Chassis with seat:11.4 kg
Chassis with carrycot: 12.9 kg
Chassis only: 8.6 kg

Bearing in mind that the Stokke is the only one that doesn't fold with the seat on, and both of the others can have the seat removed to fold / lift, then the lightest chassis is the Vista.

Anyone know what aftercare is like with Uppababy??

Think it's suppose to be very good and they have a 'base' over here now so should be easier to sort out any issues.

tks Suzie. Looking forward to checking it out, just watched demo video (with 5'3" tall demonstrator) and it does look very good - sorry it didn't work out for you. Am 5ft4 so hope that it might work well for me.

Yes i was a couple of inches short but then i do like a ridicously low handle so that doesn't help...ie 1 or 2 notches up on a Bee Plus.
