Hi all, does anyone have one? How big are they? Can they be used for overnight sleeping? Do any other carrycots fit the mini? Can they be used for overnight sleeping?
Any other thoughts or experiences welcome.

There are two carrycots - the hard bodied one and the new compact carrycot. The photos I have are of both fixed with the fabric in situ, but I was speaking to a lady on here the other day (you may be able to find the thread) and she linked to the Kiddicare website where they show the carrycot more as a pram with the fabric removed. I see no reason why you couldn't do this with the compact carrycot too but the advantage of leaving the fabric on is that you can then have a hood at both ends of the carrycot giving complete cover in winter which I think is pretty cool.

I dont know the dimensions for the carrycots but given they both supposedly fit with the fabric in situ I would think they would be a similar size. They seem a good size in real life.

Re overnight sleeping - I am trying to find out more about this. I was told recently that there are apparently no British standards (?) with regards whether a carrycot is suitable for overnight sleeping, and yet iCandy and Bugaboo both specify whether their carrycots are suitable for overnight sleeping or not. Bugaboo told me to look for air holes in the mattress (which the Baby Jogger ones don't). But I don't know whether the overnight sleeping is a standard used in another country, or whether it follows SIDS guidance or what but there is apparently no test as such which a pushchair manufacturer has to pass here to say whether their mattress is suitable for overnight sleeping. If anyone knows any different then I would love to know because I have trawled the internet for hours trying to track standards down - so I wasn't surprised to be told there are none!
Personally - when the Baby Jogger City Selects first arrived in the UK I was told that the mattresses were suitable for overnight sleeping so I bought a carrycot and used it for two nights overnight. However since then I have discovered that BJ haven't specified overnight sleeping in their carrycots.

I don't know if that helps at all?

Still need to upload photos and email them to Guildford.

The mattress isn't a mattress- will take pics to show it as can't describe.

My Moses basket one fits it though so will use that occassionally.

Will post more later as need to get ready to go out now!

Thanks for that. If its not suitable for overnight sleeping would it be suitable for naps? I intend to use it downstairs to save messing around moving the moses basket.
Just a thought about mattresses though - travel cot mattresses dont seem to have holes and seem to be just foam on a board. Are they safe?

The carrycot does take a moses basket mattress. Just brought one which fits it. Will check out measurements

Strangely I do have the compact carrycot measurements (I even surprised myself with this one!) They are 28Cms wide by 78cms long approx. I took those measurements rather than them being official ones. I havent seen the hard bodied carrycot but allthefires has the hard one. Carrycots are certainly meant for napping in. The reason I heard why this is ok is because you as a parent are awake and your baby should be nearby for you to check on. travel cots are fine but again are meant for occasional sleeping. If you use one instead of a cot then a proper mattress is recommended.

allthefires I wonder if the carrycot will fit in your new car seat adaptors like this or if it's too unstable on the City Mini?

We have one - the old style hard bodies ones. They're not huge - DS is out of his at 12 weeks but then again he's a fairly hefty baby.

Never used it for overnight sleeping as apparently there isn't enough air circulating around but I've definitely used it for daytime nap. The mattress is quite a thin piece of foam. If we have another I would definitely look into getting a better mattress. They're also not waterproof which isn't ideal for a refluxy baby!

I have put a different brand carrycot on using the car seat adaptors to test whether it 'worked' and it fitted but I didn't try pushing it around.

Do you think there is any difference in stability if you use the mounting bracket or directly into the hood holes? I wonder why there is the other set of brackets?

I secured it into the mounting bracket as think it would be too high in hood holes.

I considered whether there was any difference in stability when using the mounting bracket with car seat adaptors and the original adaptors. I dont think there was even though it sits slightly higher.

It is also much easier using the new car seat adaptors!

That all sounds great - sorry I meant the lower holes but couldn't think what to call it. Mounting bracket sounds like the right terminology :o Its good there isn't much difference and the new adaptors are easier!
