Stokke for Travel

Hi,

Has anyone travelled with a Stokke Xplory on an intercity coach? Would love to hear if it was manageable for you.

I'm trying to decide whether to purchase one. I love the height and manoeuvrability. The only drawback is that I'd like to be able to travel from Oxford to London by coach with it. I go to London frequently and would like to be able to do so with our baby.

Also, if anyone has had any experiences with plane travel, please share! I wonder if it would be at all possible to travel on my own with baby, a small suitcase, and a Stokke (packed in the Stokke carrier).

I can't comment on anything but the plane travel. In my experience, if you want to put your pushchair into a carrier then you will probably have to book it in with your luggage (or else it would be a real faff trying to juggle a baby - especially once moving, handluggage etc at the gate whilst you packed it all away). If you check it in, then you are left again with a potentially wriggly baby in an airport building, possibly for some hours, with potentially some long walks to the gate. So if you wish to plane travel with a Stokke then you need to think about what you would use for the interim period. Personally having seen pushchairs thrown about by baggage handlers, dumped on trolleys at the bottom of the pile etc, I would never take a good pushchair on a plane (I know people do though). Being utterly honest bearing in mind Stokke's are not cheap, I would budget in for a cheaper umbrella fold pushchair or second hand City Mini or Petit Zia, or anything else you fancy for your travelling occasions. I travelled lots with children on trains, buses, planes etc and especially when you are alone you need to be travelling as light as possible because its hard work even simply coping with a baby and travel without lots of luggage. I once abandoned a pushchair in an airport because I took only hand luggage but after almost two hours since landing my arms were dropping off after a mile long walk with no pushchair, the floor in baggage reclaim was filthy, the baby was into everything and I gave up and left the pushchair behind. Moral of the story - take something cheap and cheerful and if it gets broken or lost or abandoned then you wont cry!

You need something you can fold with one hand.it ain't Stokke Xplory. I had to fold it myself and put it into its travel bag at the airport with my daughter hanging out of the carrier and it was a nightmare. It is a lovely pram, easy to push, easy to manoeuvre but it's crap for travelling. Look into iCandy Strawberry that's coming out in Sept. It can be folded single handedly (apparently) .
