Light, basic pushchair for Gran's 10mth+

Right, I am sooooo fed up of trawling websites looking at pushchairs and don't know why I didn't just ask the wisdom of MN first!

My Mum will be having DS 2 days a week from the end of Aug so I'm looking to get a pushchair (probably second hand hopefully) for her. We have had a Quinny buzz and now use a Maclaren Techno XT but neither of these would suit.

She needs/wants: Something quite light and easy to fold, compact when folded - our Maclaren only just fits in her boot so nothing bigger than this, doesn't need any fancy features, just sturdy with a bit of a shopping basket, raincover etc. I don't want to get one of those really really cheap flimsy things as she does have a bit of a thing about sturdiness so this is an important factor.

Ok, so.... what should I get? Was looking at maybe the Maclaren triumph? Would the volo be too flimsy? What is the SC Pop like? Or are there any decent cheaper brand ones out there?

i have a mothercare jive, i find it very strudy i also use it as a second buggy for going on the bus as it is light weight and small, they are cheap to buy new, they are always on ebay although at the moment they are on offer (well were the last time i looked) buy the buggy and raincover/hood/liner pack together for £45

Graco Citisport...Both sets of grandparents have one each.

Baby Jogger City Micro? Folds very easily and realls small folded. You can get them for £109 new off Ebay.

My mum used a petite star zia when she looked after my DS.

Sorry, just realised another requirement is 4 wheels,... don't ask me why, but my Mum doesn't want a 3 wheeler

Does the techno XT not fit? Get a smaller Mac, quests are smaller, I had one fit in the tiny boot of a citroen C1

Yes the techno does fit, just, but doesnt leave her a lot of space. And can't afford to get another one of those anyway. Was looking at the triumph maybe, but I think it is just as long when folded. The quest is sort of inbetween the Triumph and the Techno isn't it?

Triumphs are ok, a little bit slumpy, I'd prefer a quest. Both on the same size frame. Quest also has adjustable leg rest.

Triumph/quest folded are 104cm long
XT is 107cm.

I've got a SC Pop and tbh, I think there are probably better out there - but I've not tried them so can't be sure.

Its not very easy to steer, and it feels quite 'rickety', but am comparing it to my p&t sport so maybe its what all umbrella folds are like?
