Please help me find a better double buggy!

Ok I'm really hoping all you pushchair experts can help me out - never would have dreamed I'd need a double with 2.5 yrs age gap but eldest DD been unwell and not up to walking much lately.

Have DD1 2.11 and DD2 6months. Currently have Phil and Teds Vibe but both children still sleep in pushchair and doubles seat is too short for sleeping - can't recline as both DDs heads are higher than top of seat and theres a metal bar there.

Have been looking at Baby Jogger and Out and About Nipper side by side doubles - look nice and comfy but would they tip if just had the baby in it? DD1 starts nursery in few weeks and hope to have just baby in pushchair one way and both DDs in pushchair back IYSWIM.

So summary - I need a double for different ages that wont tip if theres only 1 child in it, that is comfy enough for 7 month old to sleep and nearly 3YO to have a little nap. Don't need full recline - just enough to be comfy - doubles seat on P&T is so uncomfy!
Pricewise would be good if didn't have to spend any more than I can sell Phil&Teds for (hoping about £200)and happy to buy second hand.

Please help me out as I feel housebound at the moment!! Was convinced Phil&Teds would be solution - would be ok if DD1 just needed a seat now and then but she's too tired.

You would be fine with a good quality sde by sde with only one child in. The Baby Jogger pushchairs are excellent - I have to say I think for a school run I would consider the Elite - and I hear nothing but good about the Nipper.

I've got the same age gap and have an out and about, doesn't tip over, and my DD2 is a titchy one, both girls happy in it. cons are the fold - DH hates it! I liked the BJCM but DD1 wouldn't even sit in it in the shop so I got overruled. It has a much easier fold than the out and about.

Mountain Buggy Terrain every time. The Nipper sloped towards the middle I found.

My Mountain Buggy Urban is sturdy enough that my chunky DS (2.5) can safely climb himself in and out of it when it is set up in the sitting room!

i love my out'n'about double.

3.4 yo ds fits in fine when we have to walk long distances, it's a bit of a tight fit when he has thick clothes on in winter though.
doesn't tip when it's just 11mo dd in it.
both seats have full recline but don't use that any more.

I bought the Outdoor Nipper Double 360 quite a while after my second son was born. I wasn't planning on the expense but we were going to center parcs and I needed a double, not a kiddiboard on a maclaren! It was the best piece of kit we ever bought. We absolutely loved it and pushing them was a doddle. If you go for it, make sure you get the 360 front wheel and not the fixed one - saves your back and much more maneuverable. We kept hold of it for a long time after we really didn't need it anymore - it was even good for one on the front when we had our third baby. You might find one secondhand, we have just given ours to a friend with newborn triplet boys, they're going to use it with a Baby Bjorn! Raincover, mosquito/ black sunshade also v useful.

I'm a big fan of the Out and About Nipper 360.

I love it. It's my third double buggy - I'm a childminder. It's the lightest buggy on the market and should be easy to sell on again if you don't need it for long. You should be able to pick one up on ebay easily for £200.

My DS (2) sleeps happily in it.

I have had to get a double due to DD2's ill health (got rid of two doubles when DD3 was born when DD2 was just 2 as she wouldn't ride in them).

I got a Baby Jogger City Mini double third hand for £175 (but in very good nick) which has proved invaluable as even DD1 can still fit in as well and she's 116cm & 20kgs (she occasionally needs to ride due to asthma and she had a leg infection which made walking difficult for a few days).

It has a good recline and if you pull up on the seat recline belt you can get it really tight so the seats are very upright rather than slightly reclined (IYSWIM).

It's easy to push with one child in as I take DD2 to playschool in it with DD3 riding too and just DD3 on the way home/back to do pick ups. I can even hold DD1's hand and push the BJCMD uphill with DD2 & DD3 in it WITH shopping.

The basket is a bit tricky to get used to but I have karibiners on each of the outside handle bars and a traditional pram clip on the middle bar for the change bag.
