Help with choosing a pushchair please :)

I am currently pregnant with DC2 and looking into buying a new pushchair. We didn't keep the travel system we had with DD as we had the Silver Cross 3D and it was just awful. DD is now 3yo and looking about I feel completely swamped and have no idea what I'm looking for!

I would need something with a large shopping basket, not too heavy as live on first floor. We don't drive so ease on public transport and lots of walking is a must.

I have been looking at the iCandy range and they are the kind of style I like but I have no idea what style I would need? Cherry? Peach?

Budget is not huge and would definitnely be willing to ebay or have second hand. And am interested in looking at different brands in case the iCandys are just too dear.

Oh how I wish I knew about MN when I had DD and I would never have bought that SC 3D!

Am only 17 weeks so plenty of time to decide just scouting for options and opinions.

Thanks :)

Quite like the look of the Hauck Malibu. Mixed reviews though.

Bumping.

OOOOh more info plz.... do you want parent facing, with a carrycot etc.

I think the i candys are quite bulky ( the cherry being the lightest)

I personally hate hauck ( no genuine reason really ) other than i think they look cheap Grin

I have had tooo many prams inc Loola, pliko, luns, halo, pop, ziko etc etcBlush and am on the hunt again as expecting dd2 in 10 wk.

Take a look at the babystyle oyster this lppks really good although have yet to see it on the flesh, or what about m&p urbo/sola.

Or what about bugaboo?? im not sold on these yet as i think a lot of them look odd but i know a lot of ppl love them.

I have to say the Baby Jogger range - mainly the City Mini, or the Elite - are hard to beat from birth to five. You can get a carrycot for the Mini - not sure about for the Elite. The one handed fold is worth a lot and it's easy and light to carry. I loved the iCandy Peach but it's a two piece fold which you may find a pain to carry with living upstairs. The Strawberry which folds in one piece may be worth waiting for www.bestbuggy.co.uk/category/single/icandy-strawberry/ I don't know if they will be too much for you. At least an all in one fold pushchair you will be able to carry baby and pushchair up together.

ALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 27/04/2011 21:17

Nic - how on earth have you managed to have so many prams?! Grin

We had the silver cross 3d with DD and moved her into a M&P thingy. I don't look at the names Grin

Will look at the ones you have suggested in a mo.

I quite like the idea of a carry cot, or definitely some lay flat pram section. I don't like the idea of newborns constantly being in the car seat or in the pushchair bit. Not fussed with parent facing pushchairs - never really crossed my mind? Single hand steering preferably as will have a 3yo to manhandle at same time as pushing.

guildfordnanny you have thought of something important. I would definitely need whatever I buy to be folded in one, not having to separate sections and have two or three bits to carry upstairs.

regarding Hauck, definitely cheap, although the style of the malibu I like, if there is a better make like that style. I really have no idea! here is the malibu

When we had DD I saw the 3d in a baby book and thought it looked nice so we bought it. Didn't research the reviews, or how it worked beforehand. Got it and hated it. With a passion.

Right, out of all the suggestions I only really like the baby style oyster. The shopping basket looks huge :)

Bugaboos just look a bit weird to me, the M&P and the baby joggers I don't like. Now going to look properly at the icandys.

Dont ask lol am not sure i could embarass myself totally by listing them all Blush

I must say the oyster is taking my fancy, i love the little things like the extra bug hood and the integrated bug net, have seen a couple in passing and they do look nice.

I have had a baby jogger also eek, and must say the folding and the lightness is amazing, nut i went for the cheaper of the bj and got the micro Sad

I suppose the oyster is a little similar to the style of the hauck u like.
Have you got a babies r us cos theyve got the oyter in to go and have a play Smile

I have also 2day seen the cosatto mobi/ me mo and must say these are also quite appealing

ALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 27/04/2011 23:04

I'm liking the cosatto cabi. here would prefer not pink/purple though.

the memo has next to nothing in terms of shopping basket capacity.

You are so helpful :) you know your stuff.

And no babies r us near me. Not even a kiddicare. Have a mothercare a train journey away but I hate mothercare shops as a rule and they don't stock many brands. They fooled me with the 3d once they won't get me again Grin

their other colour here not keen. damn.

ALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 27/04/2011 23:07

Definitely definitely want a 3 in 1 with pram. I seem to be discounting anything else. massive shopping basket, and one handled steering is all i need. Why so hard though.

Guildfordnanny · 28/04/2011 11:31

Have you been to a shop and had a play? Believe me it's the best way to start. I went in wanting one thing and came out with exactly what i didn't originally want both times I tried to buy a pushchair. You really only start to learn about a pushchair when you get your hands on it, start to push it, fold it etc.

Guildfordnanny · 28/04/2011 11:33

Sorry I didn't see what you put above. Is there no independent shop near you? Mothercare is still a good start...even if you don't ask for help and simply play. You will come away knowing more.

Nicplus1and1baking · 28/04/2011 19:18

LOL i am a secret pram ( spotter/drooler/addict ) whatever u want to call it Grin

See i like the pink/purple cabi, i love the mobi but just dont do red really not sure why Confused
Do you know what ur having??

Hmmm agree re the me mo although do like the style and pattern shame we cant mix and match all the bits we like from each x

ALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 28/04/2011 20:29

Guildfordnanny - will have a look about for independents, not in my town but perhaps the next town might have one. Bit like wedding dresses, go in with a style in mind and fall in love with one you thought you'd hate Grin

Nic - I don't like red for some reason either. I hate gender typed colours for pushchairs for some reason. My 3d was in the pistachio so was neutral. We don't know what were having yet, am only 17 weeks but want to try and find out at the next scan in May.

The more I look the more I like the cabi - it comes in a grey/yellow combination too as well as the pink and that awful brown! Only about £380 for the full set inc. car seat. Dh seems to think our budget is 200. Hmm not sure I could find anything with that, the man is disillusioned Grin

OP posts:
Nicplus1and1baking · 28/04/2011 22:01

pmsl - men dont have a clue Grin
although in fairness if you have no objection to 2nd hand you probably cud.

I am on the hunt for something imilar to the mobi now but not red lol, they do it in grey but its got orange bits in it that im no sure about!

decisions, decisions....

ALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 29/04/2011 10:25

Well I really like the cabi so will convince him to get that. We aren't gtting it until I'm about 7 months so plenty of time for the price to drop :)

Let me know if you find anything else you like :)

ALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 29/04/2011 15:59

Here is the Cabi in a nice Grey/ Silver. Love it Grin
