Baby Jogger City Mini/Micro

Are the only differences the sizes of the wheels?

:)

I have a P+T sport for the school run and general walking. I use a Zapp for in and out of the car, (window) shopping, leaving with my mum, etc... But the buckle has jammed shut and the whole thing feels like it's collapsing!

I don't fancy a Maclaren and this has good reviews. ds2 is 17m

Any info would be great.

The micro doesn't have as much of a recline as the mini, and the hood is smaller
I think that's all, iirc
Oh, and the micro has a really lovely blue colour that the mini doesn't...

princessProudmel · 19/04/2011 22:36

Are the wheels the same size? :)

Looking on the Boots website the micro wheels seem smaller.

There is a huge price difference though.

the micro only has a very slight recline, whereas the mini reclines pretty much flat

seat on the mini is more padded and thicker.

straps are easier to adjust and the buckle has a padded bit round it

thisisyesterday · 19/04/2011 22:41

oh yeh, mini has a bigger hood

if it's to replace a zapp i'd go with the micro. we have one and it's really lovely.

but if you want a comfier pushchair that will lie back then go for the mini

thisisyesterday · 19/04/2011 22:41

and you are right about the wheels. the micro has smaller ones

princessProudmel · 19/04/2011 22:45

It is to replace the Zapp. Which was my second buggy.

Hmm are the wheels really teeny? What's it like to push? :)

OP posts:
princessProudmel · 19/04/2011 22:46

Second as in my 'other' buggy. Not as in the second buggy I've ever owned. Not that that matters much...lol!

How upright does the mini go?

frazzledblob · 19/04/2011 22:50

I really like my micro.

I went to John Lewis and compared the mini and micro. The mini has all the added bits that thisisyesterday has mentioned plus it is heavier and more expensive.

As ds was one when I was looking at them I decided to go for the micro as it would not be a main buggy and the flat recline was not really critical.

He still nods of in the micro, the recline seems to enough for him.

princessProudmel · 19/04/2011 22:51

On NetHuns someone said that the mini is lighter than the micro!
I need to see them in the flesh...

it's nice to push. the wheels are no smaller than the zapp (possibly marginally bigger)

thisisyesterday · 19/04/2011 22:55

micro is definitely lighter than the mini

i really had a tough time deciding though, even after trying them both out in john lewis and only ended up with the micro because i saw it on offer so snapped one up!

princessProudmel · 19/04/2011 22:58

I'm thinking that the micro is more like the zapp as in it's less padded etc.. My zapp doesn't recline atall and dd and ds2 have slept in it for ages.
And I already have a padded, comfy, reclining P+T.

....dh wants to fix the zapp....

OP posts:
frazzledblob · 19/04/2011 23:04

I would have a micro over the zapp and I liked the zapp I had for DD.

micro feels much better / sturdy and the wheels are bigger than the zapp. plus you have the recline and better storage baskets.

Plus you can have a snack tray on the micro

frazzledblob · 19/04/2011 23:05

Can you tell i like mine? Grin

princessProudmel · 19/04/2011 23:06
Grin

I'm showing this to dh :)

The Micro is definitely heavier. Approx 8.9 kg whereas the Mini is approx 7.6kgs. The difference is the frame metal. I know that sounds daft but its true. Like others have said the differences are the hoods (2 folds for the micro and one for the mini), the seat recline (flat for the mini and part recline for the micro) and the wheels are smaller on the micro. There's less padding etc on the Micro. But if you don't have a baby who needs a recline, I would grab a bargain and get a Micro whilst you still can.

thisisyesterday · 22/04/2011 21:03

Hmmm all the sites i can find give them both as the same weight actually.

my micro def feels lighter than my friends mini though, but it must be in my mind lol

strangely the baby jogger website doesn't say how much they weigh
