Which pramette??

I really fancy a pramette for my baby but have no idea where to begin. The budget is a maximum of £400 and it needs to be easy to put up and down to get into the car boot as we live in the sticks and the school and the park are the only places near enough to walk to. The lighter the better too, for the same reason, but I'm quite strong so I could cope with something heavy.

Any suggestions gratefully received!

Most prams seem to be huge when folded. We went for a from birth stroller instead, so we don't have a boot full of pram and no room for anything else!!

M and P pliko pramette. It is hated by many, is desperately unfashionable, but it is good value,a nice little pram ,a comfy pushchair and is quite tough. it fits in the back of a hatchback and has a handy little step for dc2 to ride on. it does not fold one handed but folds very easily (umbrella). Mine is 6 yrs old and I've had no reason to replace it. The car seat it comes with is awful btw. here

tbh i would go for a parent facing lie flat pushchair instead,
the bugaboo bee is very popular,im not sure on the price though,but theres also new m&p sola or urbo,the babystyle oyster and the icandy cherry seem to be popular,i had a loola up and liked it too.
a few friends of mine had the pilko/silvercross pramette,and hated the fact at about 3/4 months,when baby doesnt want to lie flat all the time,you have to face them away from you.

I was in BabiesRUs at weekend (well at ToysRUs with kids but can never resist a nosy at prams!) and I saw the Graco Fusio - is really quite nice! Folds pretty compact - nice design... £250 which is good too! Can be forward or rear facing - goes completely flat and with the apron is a proper pramette. Nice video

Pramette's are fine for the first 3/4 months but after that it will just be a front facing pushchair as baby won't want to lie flat all the time after that. It's not a major issue as a lot of people don't have rear facers at all but just something to take into consideration. Also most pramette's would not be suitable for walking on rougher terrain (grass/dirt/woods/gravel/sand) so again if this is something you would be doing then I would suggest a bigger one pushchair for walking and a smaller one for in the car.

Also remember that second hand pushchairs are normally just as good and it means you won't feel so guilty if you don't like as the price would have been much lower, so you could just sell on and buy another :o!

Pliko Pramette - This is quite a good pushchair as it is relatively lightweight and compact.

The Pliko switch - Slightly heavier than the Pliko but the seat faces both ways so baby can sit up and face you right up to toddler hood if you wanted.

We got the mamas and papas pramette second hand for £60. Our pramette was in excellent condition and we used it for the first 6 months.

Many people change to a lighter and smaller buggy once their baby can sit up on their own.

Big fan of Pliko Switch myself. I would recommend it. Not sure why it gets such bad press.

My sister had an old type Pliko and got rid of it when her DD was 4 months because it was a bit heavy and bulky, and can only be forward facing in pushchair mode.

I really like the M&P Urbo £410 with the car seat, £325 without. It's also very light compared to most pushchairs and folds down nice and flat.

I also love the Seed Pli. Same thing, one seat, turns both ways. But the seat turns into a proper carrycot with sides. This one on ebay is in Devon or theres this seller who has had new ones for £150 in the past. Worth asking them if they'll have more if you're interested.

Something like that where there's one seat that can lie flat and be forward or rear facing would be best IMO.

A few people are saying the new Graco Fusio is really good and can be a premette.

We have the Graco Fusio, it is good! The seat unit actually comes off really easily completely with a push of a button, so you can have it parent facing and forward facing in a click It comes with a few extras, like newborn liner and raincover and apron aswell as cosytoes, which i found alot of the other similar ones didnt.

Another option is the Norton Storm Pramette, they sell it on Boots online and other independents.

I have the standard Storm and really pleased with it as great value and the wheel base unit is the same.
