Is a Triple Buggy neccessary?

Well number 3 is well and truly on it's way. Due in November.

It will mean come the winter I will have DD1 who will be 2 and 6 months, DS1 who will be 1 and 6 months and the Newborn.

For those in the know, would you recommend buying a triple buggy? I'm sure in part it will depend on DD1 and her ability/willingness to walk everywhere but it'd be nice to get an idea in advance.

FYI - We currently have a double nipper 360 and 2 single buggys, a techno xlr and a zapp (although obviously we could only do the 2 pushchair thing when out as an entire family).

dts were 21 mths when ds3 was born, I had a triple - it was very hard work, also very wide on pavements. When they were 2.4 yrs, I had the baby and a toddler in the nipper double and the twins either took it in turns walking or I popped one on the hood!!!!!.

I have just sold the pushchair and it was fantastic even when transporting all 3 of them

You can get a twin easylife sport with a toddler seat on the front, or an ABC triple buggy direct from newzealand.
I think your needs may depend on if you drive or if you walk everywhere too.
I walk everywhere, and my 2y and 9m child definately needs his buggy still.

If you have a nipper then I would also suggest the walking older child and popping on hood when tired option . if you think you need something for longer distances i would highly recommend the Bibi Strolli comfort plus bike. I stress the newer comfort plus as this is suitable from 15 months and has a waist strap so much safer and suiting younger children than the older version. The great thing about the bibi is it comes with attachments for such a range of buggies then it would fit all the ones you have, making it an option to turn singles into doubles in later years 9smile0

my dd was 2 years 3 month when her little brother arrived and I did a combination of walking toddlerbaby in buggy and baby in sling toddler in buggy.we didn't have to get anywhere fast and i bought a lovely warm carrier cover for the sling that was waterproof.the other thing is have you thought about a buggy board?

If I were you I would wait and see how keen she is on walking, how well behaved she is at holding on, how comfortable you feel carrying the new baby in a sling etc.

with my dd I did get her to practice walking holding onto the buggy before the baby arrived so it wasn't something alien to her when he was here.

you'll soon know if you need a triple when the baby arrives and tghey can be ordered on the internet and delivered very quickly

Learn how to use a wrap sling. I have dd4 who is 2 and ds who is 3monthd. Ds rarely goes in the buggy and I generally use a single stroller for dd4. But as I can wrap I can also carry dd4 and put ds in the buggy if needed.

How about a buggy board?

The uppababy Vista with rumble seat and skate board looks like a great option for 3 little ones.

Wrap slings are fantastic to use, would be practical with any of your 3 babies do look at videos on youtube of how its done. With a little practice they become easy to use.

Thanks ladies, I think I'll definitely give all those options a thought. I've tried several slings/carriers before but not got on with any of them. We've had a bog standard tomy carrier, wilkinet and peanut shell but perhaps should try something else again, of all three the incrediblly un pc tomy was my favourite. Buggy board too is probably a good thing to consider. We have got one now but don't get on with it but to be honest it's a bit cheap and flimsy so perhaps investing in a better quality one would be an idea...

Wrap slings are a world away from the "high street" baby carriers in terms of comfort (and also versatility).

My advice when starting out tying back carries sit or stand against a sofa or bed preferable with a mirror on the wall nearby to view what you are doing in! Watch videos on you tube and practice with a soft toy initially if that helps.
You do have to learn this skill but it's not too hard - and is invaluable if you have 3 babies to care for - it's like an extra pair of hands once you know how!
