Posted for a friend as quoted by her:

I bought an icandy last Januaury. Since then the back wheels have been replaced because the break kept dropping and it ripped out most the spokes in the wheels. It took them months to replace that and a lot of arguing from the store i bought it from and icandy. Before xmas the waist strap snapped , the part where it connects to the chest strap. The whole harness is sewm into the seat fabric so we needed a new seat fabric. They refused to replace it as it didnt come under their 2 year warrenty but the shop replaced it for me but funny enough the new seat fabric is a different design and not sewn in.

Now something else is broken. My front right wheel crunched every time it went round, so i rang them up and they have sent it of. The lady from the shop has just phoned me back saying they wont replaced it because its due to putting to much weight on it and over use and they agree

DD a skinny moo!!! 5/10 trips we dont use the buggy and iv had it 14 months , what exactly did they expect?? wheels still in the wrappers?

Apparently my back wheels are about to do the same thing as it done last time , iv had no problem with it and thats down to it being over loaded and my other front wheels about to go too.

I DONT over load it, iv hardly used it!! Im not heavy with it at all, its not been lugged in and out of cars or rammed into things. It carries some shopping but not a lot and not enough to over load it , i do shopping daily so its only things like the odd bag of salad or a packet of prawns and half the trips i do i take a sling and a ruckstack.

They want me to pay £20 each for the front wheels , £20 each for the back wheels , £30 for the back axel and £30 for the break PLUS £35 shipping fee!!
I think they are talk out their rear about the back wheels to be honest. I dont have enough money to replace 1 front wheels plus the charge let alone the rest of it.

And to top it all off , the women told me she couldnt get hold of me , well iv had NO missed calls on my phone and every one else is able of making my phone ring!!

Would you keep on at icandy, sell on as broken and replace with more reliable, or pay to get fixed then sell on for more money and get a new reliable one?

get shot of it!
personally I would sell as broken (on ebay?) and buy something else, never had an icandy and know very little about them but if i had had the above experience I wouldn't be thinking of getting another!

Personally I would be thinking of taking the shop I bought the pushchair from to court. The item is clearly not fit for purpose it should by law be durable for as long as you need it. That could be reasonably argued to be four years.
I would not be selling at a loss for spares. That is giving up your consumer rights.

Thank you both i'll pass your comments on x

i have an icandy, and we use and abuse it!! and its never broken nor do we have trouble with the tires(and i do overload)nor do have the brake issue, the one your friend has is clearly not fit for purpose and the store/icandy should replace it, your friend should def fight for her rights! good luck!

I also have an Apple that has been used for 3 years and the only fault is the foam on the handle bar split. It's otherwise perfect and a great pushchair. You definitely got a dud, I'd keep on at them. No reason why you should lose out any more.

Sorry, your friend not you :)

I have had mine for 1 year, had one problem with a back wheel but john lewis got it replaced and it has been fine since, sounds like your friend has a very dodgy one, I'd be going back to the shop and throwing a mega tantrum about lunchtime on a saturday as others are shopping. Grin
