how important is it to have a recline position in a pram?

hi

ds is 8.5mo, we're just moving him out of his wonderful travel system to the next stage car seat and normal pram. dh wants to get a stroller to fit in the car and LOVES the micralite superlite fastfold here

the problem is it doesn't have a full recline position. how important is this? ds seems to sleep fine whilst slightly reclined in his car seat. but ive heard some people and read some reviews that say a flat position is best in a pram/stroller for naps. will the lack of a full recline be a problem for us?

IME as lOng as the seat reclines enough for the child to relax completely without their head lolling forward onto their chest, they sleep comfortably.

By 8.5m I dont think this is an issue... it's really for newborns who sleep a lot, have delicate spines, and can't actully sit up, so will flop/collapse in a sitting-up seat.

Also can you consider the micralite for taking in the car, and keep the other one for walking locally?

What travel system do you have? I thought the whole point of "travel system" was you could clip the baby car seat on in the early days/for quick trips round the shops, and then just use the base as a normal buggy later. So why would you want to buy something to replace it at only 8 months old? I can understand wanting a light stroller too, but not instead?

we have the mamas and papas herbie (i think its an older model). catilla youre right its to have a smaller one in the car, sorry my post wasn't clear.tbh i'm quite happy with our lovely M&P pram, but we're going away this weekend and that got dh thinking we wont have enough space in the car,so a smaller pram would be ideal.

it does recline partially so maybe its ok? from teh youtube videos ive seen (not many actual shops stock it,its a special order, so haven't seen it in RL yet) i think ds' head would go back rather than forward.

I absolutely love my superlite, i bought it for ds3 when he was three though. Am expecting another baby in the summer and am buying carrycot for it. Don't think i could use it as a main pushchair til at least a year old.

But then i do walk alot and have tended to have babies who have slept well and long time in pram in afternoons. Depends on your lifestyle how often you use pram and how ofter your ds sleeps in it i suppose?

But if you are keeping herbie as main pushchair then yes go for it. It is amazing to push, really light and comfy for both child and parent. Get a liner or footmuff to make it cosy though as seat a mesh type fabric.

just to point out also,, if you are changing his carseat he will still need a rearfacing seat if he is only 8.5mo :)

My friend designed the M&P Herbie.

My 13 m.o. DS will sleep in his reclining carseat but never in the pram unless reclined flat. I guess it depends on your baby.
