bugaboo bee suitable for newborns?

I am soon to be a first time Mum and am currently obsessed with finding the perfect pushchair for my baby due in March. I had fallen in love with the bugaboo bee as it is light and very suitable for London living. However, although it is advertised as being suitable for a new born, when we had a demo of it we realised that the seat does not recline to a fully flat position but is slightly at an angle. The lady at John Lewis mentioned that as long as the angle is between 150 -180 degrees then this is safe for a new born. there seems to be alot of conflicting opinions as to whether this is the case with a number of articles stating that anything other than 180 degrees lie flat is only suitable from 3 months old. any advice would be much appreciated?

I would say anything 170 degrees plus is suitable from birth :) What is the degree of the furthest recline on the Bugaboo Bee?

I have a bee plus - and am the mother of 4 - I would say yes the bee plus is definately suitable for a newborn. Grin
The main reason for having a newborn lay flat is to keep it's head from lolling onto it's chest -while semi-upright - and therefore compressing the windpipe and reducing blood oxygen levels - possibly leading to "cot death". This is the reason it is advised not to keep a baby in a car seat for long periods of time too.
Definately the bee plus reclines enough that baby's head would be far back enough to keep baby comfy and safe - and not compress the windpipe.
The bee plus is also a great lightweight pushchair for London life.

thanx so much for your help and advice. I have just put in my order for the Bee. I hink the recline looks around 160 or 150 but they do not say on the website unfortunately and its hard to tell from looking..

DC3 is due in 4 weeks and we've just bought the Bee Plus. I think the seat is fine, reclines enough and provides newborn with a cosy nest!
