Talk to me about double/twin prams please...How would you sell urs to me lol

Its doing my head in, thinking about it, i will have a 2.5 yr old and newborn.
I hav a vauxhall astra so not a massive boot, although wont be in and out of boot on regular basis.

I am looking at... bjcm, i candy, like the look of the uppa baby vista with rumble seat but not sure dd would like to face rearwards all the time.

Dont really like 3 wheelers or anything with big massive wheels ( i dont walk off road ).

What have you got and why??

I have twins.

I had a mountain buggy double urban. Loved it to push. Could push with one hand. So easy to manoevre. Wonderful in snow. But soooooo heavy and awful to get dog poo out of tread.

It got nicked.

I now have an old Maclaren double. It is AWFUL. The only good thing about it is it's easy to lift, but it's sooo hard to push, impossible to get up even a tiny kerb. I hate it.

If your elder child will be 2.5yr have you considered a single plus a sling?

I bought a double when i had dd2, dd1was 21mth at the time and i never used it as it was a pain so instead when dc3 arrived and dd2 was then 24mth i used a single and a moby wrap for newborn..so much easier to get about and the baby loved the sling too.

I also had a buggy board so if i wanted baby to go in the pushchair my dd2 could use the board if she was tired.

From my experience alot of people sruggle with side by side doubles as the elder one sometimes doesnt leave the baby alone and the pushchair is bulky. Then alot of one infront of the others are heavy to get up kerbs etc.

I have friends who have loved phil and teds but they are very expensive imo

ps dont know what your dc is like or how long until baby arrives..but my dd2 is now 2.5 and has sat in a pushchair only a handful of times since turning 24mth..the od time she has it has been because i have been in a rush on the school run etc..but otherwise she is happy to walk

I loved my P and T but dc1 was 16m when dc2 was born. Both my dc could walk quite well by 2 years but we used it as a back up for dc1, if we walked too far he could get in the back. If you take off the wheels it fits in the boot of a citroen saxo but the raincover is crap. Good 2nd hand value too.You're not going to get that much use out of it (maybe only 1 year)so you might as well pick something that you can sell easily.

Hi thank you for the advice, DD walks but not sensibly and not safely so couldnt risk it yet i dont think.

I had thought about a sling but didnt want o use it all the time, i may get one aswell.

Wanted something for winter also as i dont drive myself so walk everywhere unless me and dh go somewhere together, dont realy fancy dd walking or on a board in rain, wind etc.

I have looked at p n t but dont like the bottom shelf bit.

Take a look at the Baby Jogger City Select. I hear they're fab :). Haven't got mine yet, as DC2 isn't due until late Jan... but that's what I think we'll be buying. They're quite expensive though, so I'm just on the lookout for a 2nd hand one on eBay - they do come up from time to time (quite rare, as the buggy came out just last spring).

There's just far too many reasons why I love it to list right now but there's a thread further down the page about doubles which I have listed everything on but the main reasons are it's one of the only doubles that can have a carrycot for a newborn and a parent facing seat for my toddler, it's lovely to push, even with both kids I. It and I can get it on the bus if I need to get home quickly due to rain/cold whatever.

Sorry to hijack but can you tell me where you can buy a City Select as I am abroad (hence I am searching on-line and struggling slightly) and hoping to see if I can get one here or get my Dad to bring out for me at Christmas time!

I got mine from a local store called stroll on baby but also have a look at Lullaboo baby, twins-store or John Lewis. Also eBay. I've seen a few on there already. Mostly due to the delays in delivery so went out and bought other prams.

this is a great price if you can get your dad to get it to you, then just the carrycot to get for a newborn.

My sister has the select and i do agree it is fab but way to big and bulky for me, plus my nephew is not 2 yet and only just fits in the seat comfortable so my dd would be to big s hes quite tall.
