Pushchairs

Which Phil&Teds?

My BuggyBoard has been stolen from the garden and because I always found it quite difficult to use for long walks, DH has just told me he will treat me to a Phil and Teds with a double kit.

But I really need help to pick a model.

Is there really a huge difference, other than price?

I have not got a car so really do get max use from pushchairs. Need decent room for shopping and easy to push.

Vibe may be a bit too expensive. So need help with Classic, dash and explorer?

Lucky you I'd go for sport having extensively researched myself, you get a little recline on doubles kit when undo zips, enough for a snooze. Also I think it looks fab, the explorer is easier to fold and has an improved seat unit that looks more comfy and isnthe reason I'd get that model if that's most important to you, the sport isn't exactly tricky to fold but it depends what's most important to you I guess, the explorer has a follow the sun hood and others don't but my children wouldn't stand for a hood in face if awake anyway, injust stick hats, long sleeves and sunglasses on if I have to be out in hot sun.....not exactly a prob right now though!

Thanks.. The only thing that put me off the sport is that if a child sits in the back without one in the front, it tips back.

Ah and I live in a hot country... so your post was really helpful as I didn't even think about the sunhood!

May go for the explorer for that reason alone.

I was under the impression the sport was disconinuted. Not sure where I have got that idea from (maybe heard it on here) Is that not right?

Can't really comment as only just got the Dash as DS2 due in Jan, however playing with it today with DS1, 2y5m, and the sun shade that comes with it will be absolutely useless when the second seat is on. Pretty useless now TBH. Will be getting the UV double cover ASAP me thinks - bloomin hot here too!

It is however a dream to push and DS1 loves it so much there are no more fights to get him in as we had with his old maclaren.

i wouldn't get the Vibe - my two both broke at the frame - metal sheared. Really disappointed and fed up.

i have the explorer, i have also had all the other models except the dash because of the faults it had, i didnt want to risk it.
the explorer has a newly designed frame so doesnt tip, the back seat doesnt recline BUT some people have put the hammerhead toddler seat on it as it reclines and its fine. it is nice and the best they have made so far. the explorer hood is like the vibe and can move from head to foot with the sun.

Can anyone give me some advice (and quickly as there's a sale on! :-) ) on the classic Phil and Ted vs the newer models (I am presuming that the Explorer, Sport etc are newer models...)

Only asking as there is a sale on and I can see a Phil and Ted classic in-line for 300 quid and that seems a bit of a bargain - is it?

Let me know your thoughts double buggy peeps! And thanks in advance

Hiya mel2005 are you happy with explorer then? Am considering dash but just seen explorer in shop and it was lovely, think I may be disappointed with dash seat and brake if I ordered it? Haven't been able to see a dash anywhere.....explorer seat looks like may be more supportive? What if anything do you not like about it, part from lack of rear seat recline? I mayb not fussed on that as baby prob in main seat most time anyway and toddler hop in out occasionally back seat.

i do love it, i have had all of them but the dash (because of the faults they had) and the explorer is the best by far, the only thing i didnt like about it was the handle it could do with being made out of the same material as the MB handles, you do need a handle cover on all the phil and teds as they are sooo prone to ripping, i bought mine from this lady myworld.ebay.co.uk/bellasbuggybags118x/
anyway DH doesnt like the small seat behind (we have twins so we swap them around)it was my car buggy and i used to have to swap it for the mountain buggy double every time i went out in the car with him as i couldnt cope with the comments about how side by side was better and 'poor in the back....' anyway i have reluctantly sold it and bought a twin side by side e3 for £155 new from e-bay. its is alot more difficult to get around and i cant now shop in M&S food dept as i cant get through most of the tills, it was a close shave with a single buggy (they must have a disabled one but i have yet to spot it and with the xmas rush i cant get anywhere near them to look).
anyway if i was buying a p&t inline again it would be the explorer without a doubt and its much better suited to baby and toddler etc than twins.

i know its a bit late, but just incase some one else reads this on their travels do not buy a V2 sport, phil and teds are worst for customer service once 1 year warranty has run out, I had to have all fabrics replaced under warranty some parts more then once and the reflective piping the reflective stuff started peeling off just as the warranty was out (but remember my covers were less then a year old after replacement) and it is unsafe for baby but phil and teds refuse to acknowledge this and replace or refund and I am left with an unsafe buggy for the last year or so as I can not afford to spend that sort of money again just to throw this one out. very unhappy.

I have something to add too... Loved my sport to bits and over 18 months never had any problems. It got very battered. Just upgraded to the explorer & yes, explorer is better. However, I kept my sport doubles kit which fits & has the recline if that's what you're after. Hth.
