Help! P&T Sport just stopped steering properly
imgonnaliveforever · 09/11/2010 14:13
Literally overnight the front wheel has become really cumbersome. I noticed it yesterday and also noticed tyres were quite deflated, so have pumped them up but still the same problem. Going forwards is ok though not as smooth as previously, but manouvering around corners, reversing, 3 point turns have all become virtually impossible as the front wheel won't pivot. Has anyone else had this? Any advice?

I haven't had this problem but just wondered whether taking the front wheel off and putting it back on might help?

I had the vibe rather than the sport, but it had a little thing to stop the front wheel pivoting (for rough terrain), presumably the sport has it too. I didn't realise it was engaged the first few times I used the buggy and it was a nightmare to push. Are you sure it's not just the clip that's become accidentally engaged?

check the clip on the front wheel - you twist the small knob to lock or unlock the wheel

That what I was trying to say Eldon, except you expressed it clearly...

It's definitely not the wheel lock as I know about that. Also the wheel tends to get stuck when it's at an angle rather than facing forwards. I'm going to try to oil it tonight and see if that helps. Does anyone else oil their phil and teds?

i have just bought a new explorer and had to oil it, it was very stiff when i first bought it but has eased off and is lovely to push now. i usually try and oil my wheels about every 6 months, especially on my mountain buggy when its been really muddy. we have had alot of rain did you get your wheels muddy over the last few weeks. they might just need a clean and oil. just taking the front wheel off and putting it back in might ease it off. when you spin the wheel does it make a scraping noise? if so it could need new bearings.

hi, which Phil and Teds do you have. each one runs a different front wheel system. Some of these will need to be lubricated and others if lubricated will stop working. If its a E3, Sport, Dash or Explorer then it sounds like a little grease (not oil this will just run away after a couple of weeks) can be applied to the front swivel mechanism. If its a Vibe depending on how old this needs to be run dry (no lubrication)
I hope this helps
